Mitch,

It was nice meeting you. I was chatting with Chevymad tonight, about your problem.

He mentioned how the trucks have lots of EGR problems. Considering our converstion, I think that might be a great place to look.

I am sure he'll go into more detail, but its another suggestion. If we end up doing a chip for your rig, you could do the full EGR delete then too...

(BTW, now we need to talk you into buying a f-body... Wink)

yeah you're right Rodney. the rolling brick known as firebird just can't keep up with the sleek aero-dynamics of the Camaro and it's headlight pockets. Laughing

sure, i bet my car is more Aero-dynamic in a wind tunnel then his Very Happy but that is where the superiority of my Firebird ends. well, looks too i suppose. Cool

Laughing Hey dudes sorry it took me so long to get back on here but its a pain finding time for the computer when you work 12 hour days. Anyway, about the egr, just as an FYI, When i fineshed putiing together the motor i put on a new EGR valve and hooked it all up right. It still had the off idle issues as the old egr had. So i unhooked it and capped of the vac line from the egr solonoid to the egr. I then was convinced that perhaps my new egr was in a stuck upoen position so i put my old one back on (still unhooked) and it still ran the same as the day you two seen it.

SO... 3 years later and im still having the same problem. Actually its gotten even worse. I finally checked the compression and came up with about 130psi in all 8 and the plugs are all black. Has something like 7000 miles on the motor now... So last time John, Tony, and I met up we were un able to data log. I forget why now, but im wondering if anyone would want to give er another shot at logging and reading the results?
Really starting to think about putting a stock cam in it.

What are the cam specs on this motor?

What is the static compression ratio when you assembled the motor?

IAC??? Would be interesting to see the live data when the problem occurs.

So i hate to seem like a whiney helpless loser, but im wondering if anyone still has any desire to do some data logging with me on my truck. I built my data cable only to find that my laptop has the wrong stinkin serial connector! Guess im just trying to be a cheapo before i shell out for a serial-usb adapter.

I can plug in and look at the data. The hard part is finding a time that works with my schedule.
