Heh. Trick with zipties on plug wires is knowing how to do it. Especially on a V8 since you don't want pairs tied together. You need to make a linked chain out of the ties so that every other tie has a wire through it. This will give a good grip on the wire, and keep the wires apart.

Aaron is an uppity redneck. He zip ties his wires together in some special order or something.

Mine are zip tied together right after the header tubes to keep them from burning like Rodney's and everyone else's, then zip tied together in whatever order makes them look nicest over the valvecovers up to the distributor.

Black zip ties. Cut the extra off underneath so the zipper is under the wires and looks nicer.

Or hit the junkyard and snatch as many as you can find, or buy a cheap set of clips from somewhere.

Hell, my '95 F150 had a warning sticker from the factory right next to the vacuum and belt diagrams warning about crossfire and giving plug wire routing diagrams.

Just yankin' your chain man. No hard feelings. Very Happy Should've qualified my post and said that you're actually right, but I like making fun of you too.

Good plan. Those are nice clips. If you want to be less redneck than us, you're on the right track. While we're having a discussion of how to effectively zip tie spark plug wires together you're off doing it the right way in the first place. Razz

I really like a nice, clean engine bay. While I'm at this, I'm going to clean up my wiring harness, remove things I don't need, etc, so it will be as uncluttered as possible. I'm leaving the A/C in it, so it's not going to be too clean though....

Well, I made a completely rookie mistake. Got the intake, Edelbrock Performer, it's much taller than factory. I'm not sure that it's gonna fit... Any suggestions on a new hood? I'll post some pics of the setup I got after I get them up somewhere.

Drop-base air cleaner. Just make sure it clears the horn on the inside, and the linkage on the outside.

It will fit just fine with a drop base filter. Might actually have to run a spacer between the carb and filter housing to avoid some filter base to carb interference. I know I had to with an Edelcrap, Demon (holley) clears fine though.

For what it's worth a Performer RPM intake is 15/16ths of an inch taller than a regular Performer.

That should solve your clearence issues. Hell, I have an Airgap and holley and I don't even have a a drop base air cleaner, and I can still get my hood shut.

I'm definately going to have to swap mine out, I already have issues. I think I'll pull all the insulation out from under the hood, that will give me a bit more clearance.

Another vote for zip ties! At a minimum I would route the wires how you like ( secure with zip ties) then add a set of wire seperaters of your choosing.

Couple of pics of my settup with ties. When the plenum is installed you cant really see the wires anyway.

Well, I think I'm going to do the swap without the msd box to start, when I sell my truck, pick up the box with the money leftover from buying the '67. I'm got beat by a mustang the other day, can't let that happen again....
