After only about 3 years. Sigh.
1. Would fried wiring to the trans (700R4) keep it from acting like it's got overdrive?
2. I need to replace the inner fender on the passenger side. Anything to look out for in that process? _________________ "Are you guys ready? Let's roll."

Those wires going to the trans are the TCC Torque Converter Lockup.
Without them, damaged, etc.... the converter wont lock up. It might seem like it doesn't have OD. |

OK... so, check the wiring harness there.
If that's OK, what's the next thing to look for? _________________ "Are you guys ready? Let's roll."

You can check the brake switch and fuses. There is an input to the ECM that lets it know the brakes are on. The TC will disengage when the brakes are being pressed. I believe when you press the brakes the wire to the ECM goes to 12V. _________________ E30

| I wonder if your TV cable is not adjusted properly? That will effect your shifts points. |

HHhhmmmmm..... definately worth a check. But it shifted fine before, and the shift cable hasn't been replaced: the fire was on the starter side and low... But I'll check that as well.
Also, I'll follow up with the fuse box. Good suggestions, gang.... thanks! _________________ "Are you guys ready? Let's roll."

The tv cable swaps over to that side, kind of behind the starter. I'd definatly check there for some meltage.
One other thing, it could just be gummed up from sitting 3 years too. One of the valves hanging or something. If you don't find any other problems, I'd add a can of Seafoam Trans Tune. I've had great success with this stuff. Both with sticky valve bodies, and shuddering convertors. If its just a gumming up issue it will take care of it in just a mile or 2 of driving. |
