Aaron, Rod's got another 82 Z/28, if you're in the market for a 3rd gen. You might an easier time talking him out of that, than the TPI car. Although, I think he wants to keep the 82 around for parts.

No, not serious. Its the hood I want. It just has a few blemishes.
I need to find someone with some expertice in fiberglass repair for it though, before I address paint on it. |
those hoods are a bitch to fix even WITH fiberglass knowledge because its not 100% fiberglass...
they're known for separating as well |

silly putty and lots of duct tape.
it's the reason that the same hood was steel for 1984 models ... huge recall on them... both functional and non-functional composite hoods had the problem... the skin would eventually separate where they were basically glued, and apparently it was a problem at high speeds... you know... hood halves flying off willynilly and all...
not sure what the fix was, I believe it was the steel replacement hood, bt you could fix it with some glass work and rivets or something I'm sure |
Huh?....I never knew they made the 84's out of steel. My 84 camaro had a Fiberglass hood, of course it was also a CFI Hood with flappers, and definately wasn't orginal to the car.
Mine's having the "seperating" problem on the driver side uppper corner.
Guess its time to buy a bunch of 2 stage epoxy!
Man, all this talk about hoods.....I think its time to bust out the orbital sander and the 160 grit sheets and strip that pink color off!

sad but true... and yeah, the CFI hood would be the dead give away it wasn't original haha...
as much as I love the hoods, a low cowl would do me just fine when it comes down to it |

I have NO experience repairing these things. Even I could use a few pointers on what to do.
I'm amidst sanding the pink color off mine right now. I'll probably do the actual repair to where its seperating next week (weather permitting).
I wish I could be of assistance, but I myself am not 100% sure, so it'd be like the blind leading the blind.

I think you are refering to Top Engine Cleaner. Part # 105002. There is also a new product called upper engine and injector cleaner, part# 88861802.

105002 is the old GM number for 88861802. They switched awhile ago.  Comes in a cantainer like Stabil. |

Yep we did. But some of us still have secret stashes of the old stuff laying around. You could actually still get the old number until about last February. If you ask nice, I'm sure your local dealer has a can or two of the old laying around you could obtain for a more reasonable price.

The old stuff was found to the state of california to emit too many pollutants, which is cause for the switch. I know that my work is all out of it, but we rarely use it anyways, way overkill. |
