I have been slowly building up all my supplies and tools and such to repaint my Vert for abit now, and due to its daily driver status I will be doing it in stages (meaning I will bodywork and spray a section at a time so I can drive it home from my work area each night)
I started the actual work today and got the left fender, door, and quarter done before I had to clean up for the day.
I am getting rid of the tu-tone as you can see, and some things like the handles and trim and such are being painted also (not my idea, the last repaint covered em all, so now I gotta)
does anyone here have any knowledge on colorsanding an acrylic enamel singlestage paint, I need to know how long to wait till I can sand it smoother.
before
after todays work
and a quick photochop for a concept
please be gentle, after all it was a really crappy midnight cranberry flaking paint job before.
but I would like to know about the time needed to fully cure and any opinions people might have,
thanks

I like it.
I dont think that the enamel will dry hard enough to sand. But if its possible, i would wait at least two weeks, especially with the cold weather. Looks good though!
PS. The gray seats I still have in my garage look EXACTLY like what you have in the Cavi. _________________ E30

| Been awhile since I looked any of this up.. But if I remember right it had to cure a month before color sanding/buffing. Of course that will also depend on what hardener you use. My last single stage job I used a urethane hardener in the enamel. Came out much glossier then the standard hardener. |

so I finnaly got to talk to the owner of the paintshop at my work(uses the same paint all day) and he says it should be fine to colorsand anytime after 2 days so I am just waiting for some time to get out there and do it
I hope it turns out ok, but the bodywork on the door is pretty bad, I want to find a replacement, but it is hard to find vert parts around here right now _________________

I've kinda wanted to do that to my bird. You should try it and then sell me the hinges. |

| Are those from a mid 80's buick? I think I've got a set of those. It's originally got the crossbar that connects each side. Got more pictures? Couple hundred per job if it's a from scratch thing and less if you've done it before? No idea on pricing. |

there is a stop I built into them to stop it from pivoting in one direction and it rests on the top of the grill in the other rotational direction
