|
|
Last weekend pulled the 9th injector cold start and fuel line and put in the Accel block off kit. Started it up today...cranked over first time and to my amazement NO typical puff of black smoke. My car has just turned 50,000 miles and for years had this annoying problem. All thought that it was the typical "valve seal" thing. I also noticed that when I increased the rpm while it was cold; no crackling in the exhaust sound or mini backfires(only happened when cold on start up). Very interesting that GM eliminated the cold start injector in 1989...coincidence??? makes me wonder...!!!!!! _________________ 1988 Formula 350

No...the MRP e prom I installed in 1989 has worked well for me and I have been pleased with its window of adjustment for variances.. _________________ 1988 Formula 350

The valve seals will be a puff of blue burnt oil. Black puffs are fuel.
When GM eliminated the cold start injector, they richened up the tune in the computer chip to compensate. |

Sorry; their name now is Performance Resource...back in '89 there were many write ups in several magazines about them and other manufacturers and they won hands down in all catagories when they ran tests and comparisons ...their e prom was the best at the time... _________________ 1988 Formula 350

The colour is bluish black...and I agree with you...always felt it was fuel related but didnt know how to tackle the problem..everyone was pointing to the seals. I feel it should be okay without the extra '89 enrichment. I only run in the summer and let it sit for a week and tried it today and started on the first crank..it was 40*F here today when I started it. _________________ 1988 Formula 350

| The 9nth injector can be removed, just need a chip burned to mantain cold start quick starts. I ran into this dilema when I installed a T-Ram on my 87, no boss for the cold start injector. Ed Wright burned my chip, no cold start issues. |
