| Should I heat up decklid first or just use a putty knife to break seal? |

Must use hatch installation juice!

Once the hardware is off you can use the leverage of the decklid to break the seal. Maybe use a stiff putty knife but be careful of the edge of the glass.
Bear in mind that the seal between the glass and decklid is a completely submerged seal (you are essentially creating the bottom of a rain trough) so you need to use some serious business to seal it. I made the mistake of using some GE2 silly-cone on John's and it leaked badly. |

I thought we were talking weather stripping for the deck lid..... not the lid vs glass piece. Don't use weatherstrip adhesive.
Get some 3M Glass adhesive. For glueing windows in. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

| Paul, does that glass adhesive have much body to it? The factory sealant that GM used basically looks like roofing tar. It's very thick and stays pliant. |

Yep, it's rather thick, very sticky. It's what I used to glue the side windows in the mazda. Worked freakin' awesome.
You want the thickness to fill all those gaps. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

Cool beans. There are some large gaps between the decklid and glass just by it's design. |
