I need to find a 5speed trans from a metro or suzuki swift.

Anyone see one in the lakewood or tumwater yards? I've never been to either. What business are they?

Thanks
-Paul

Yep. Car-part.com Closest trans is half the continent away.

Checked out the Lynnwood pick n pull today. They had 2 autos and 1 manual but the trans was gone.

I can get the parts I need (5th gear, slider, fork) for $450+tax!!!!!

Sigh.

Lakewood is Pick-N-Pull, they're owned by the same people who own the one in Lynnwood.

Tumwater is a private joint AFAIK, very relaxed and low prices. Selection kinda sucks though.

I'm probably going to be at the Lakewood yard after work tomorrow, shoot me a txt if you're free then.

www.woodfins.com shows 2 manual transmissions in their network. However, I dont see that they say where they are.

Work 130-10 aaron. Keep an eye out for me though.

I rebuilt the trans a year ago. She had a motor mount go out, and when the motor torqued it'd pull the shifter out of 5th. So she bungee corded the shifter to the dash to "keep it in gear." Which toasted the fork, slider and gear.

Good thing is you can access all of 5th gear in the car. 2 bolts drops the trans down far enough to get the side pan off. Couple 10mm bolts and a 2 studs unscrewed with vice grips. Small snap ring pliars and a roll pin driver to get the fork off, allen to take the detent cap off and a magnet to pull the ball out and you have all of 5th gear in your hands.

So long as it's a 33 tooth gear it'll work, otherwise I need the matching driven countershaft gear which requires a little more umph in the yard cause it's a nut like a half shaft hub nut.

Tacoma Pick-N-Pull = the old Lakewood Pull-A-Part.... Yeah I know. Laughing

I will hopefully get off work early enough to get out there. Am I correct in assuming that if any of these cars have a manual transmission that it will be the one you want?

Last time was a bearing failure. Thus episode is driver induced.

Aaron. It should be what I need. Just let me know if there is a stick and ill go sown sat am. If you feel the urge to.pull just grab the gear behind the pinch bolt if the gear with the synchro and slider is other than 33 teeth.
