What's wrong with the V-belt stuff that originally was on the 305?

Just curious.

Alt can spin both ways. I had a spare h20 pump for serp setups just laying in the garage. Embarassed

I'm with stupid

The alt isn't charging because it isn't being switched on by the trigger wire. There are two wires coming out of the plug on that CS130: one small and one large (ignore the largest one on the post for now).

The smaller wire goes to your voltmeter or idiot gen light. The larger wire is the regulator trigger wire, and it needs to go to wherever the fat wire from the alternator post, the fusable links that feed the fusebox, and the positive battery cable all join. This varies by car, but on yours it should be the big lug on the starter.

This wire needs to have a fusable link in it, and it needs to be a min of 14ga.

Was going to say, alternator charges either way. But it also doesnt spin backwards with a serp setup. All pulleys with the small grooves spin the correct direction, all with the smooth face against the belt spin backwards.

so if the wires in the harness are setup right and i plug in the alternator it should work right? so the wiring is good and possibly the alternator is bad?

Have Blatozone test it if you're unsure about it.

Bashy Bashy

Gotta stop throwing money at your problems, dude. New pulleys aren't going to make your alternator work better.

wow i really need to sort this crap out.... so i remember the volt guage inside working so technically the wires going to the alt should be ok, i wil have to double check and get the alt tested, but instead of completly switching to v-belt couldnt i just get a new alt (if its bad) and a reverse flow water pump?

Yes. Yes you can. Like $30 or something for the reverse flow? If you want ultra cheap parts just to get it together, go talk to a big red headed guy at autozone on 6th.
