hey Paul..
i finaly got around to making that data cable, and i have no idea what this diagram means...
i get the 4/9 2/9, those are the positions on the Serial cable. what i need to know, is which pins on the transistors (they are labled I I T). which way do the resistors go? do they both resist the flow toward the PC?
thanks alot. |

Transistors should be labeled on the back of the packages as Base/Emitter/Collector.
The Base is the line in the middle of the circle that goes straight to the middle of the bold line within the circle.
The Emitter is the lead with the Arrow (out)
The Collector is the lead without the arrow (in)
Resistors can go either way. |

they did not come in a package... i got them from the guy at the counter
i'll test the resistors to be sure, i know some resistors are one way.
EDIT*
found a thing on line... shows the pins. |

| Resistors are not one way. Diodes are one way. |

downloaded craig moates software... DOS
anyway, i can't get the cable to connect, but i don't know how to setup the serial port so there is realy no surpirse there. but i was surprised by one thing....
when i put the cable on the six, and flip the switch (to ground A/B) the ECM light blinks the codes, which is exactly what it is suposed to do. when i do the same thing in the GTA it turns the cooling fan on, and the ECM light goes off. WTF?
also how do i set up the serial port? |

It's not supposed to make the SES blink. What it does on the GTA is normal.
I don't know that you are supposed to jumper with a 10k ohm for hte 2.8. Different ECM. |

The ECM triggers the fan for whatever diagnostic reason.
The Switch is to tell the ECM to go into "spit out data mode." |

ahh... so i need to bridge different ports on the six to put it on "spit out data" mode.
i was reading somthing on TGO that said NOT to turn the car on when ports a/b are connected. is that true or false? |
