hey, i was talking to somone a while back about runners for the TPI that they had lying around that were not dented. i am still looking to get some. so if anyone has any.

also if you are looking to still have a spare working TPI unit or somthing i will gladly give you the dented ones. they work, they are just ugly. Very Happy

i am getting ready to start on my "polished/buffed up TPI" project and don't want to shine dented runners.

Get the 89+ ones and you can ditch that cold start injector/tube/wiring/etc.

They are the best aftermarket TPI runners out there reguardless of the claims. SLP stuff is crap, edelbrock is in the middle. AS&M are bigger & maintain stock look.

i was actualy looking at the edelbrocks and thinking "if i wanted ugly i would get a stealthram/miniram/superram". i like TPI cause when i open my hood i get... uhm... happy.

thanks for the link paul. that is realy cool that they maintain the stock look. but it comes down to the dough. these plus a new baseplate and i am 60% of the way to a TPIS, which would yeild much better results. it is just not economical. if i am going to stick with TPI i am going to stick with stock TPI. upgrading the TPI intake itself is not where i am headed right now.

when/if i am ready to start upgrading my induction system i will probably look to follow you and schultzy and go for what makes the most sense.

i also think that when/if i go with a new induction system that i can recoupe some of the cost by selling my polished TPI intake/runners and base.

i mis-spoke, i think they are all uglier then TPI, i think i would go with the TPIS 1st on looks alone because it is the 2nd best. if i was to look into induction mods i would LOOK into induction mods. i just threw the TPIS out there for the sake of argument, the 600 miniram just prooves my point. $$$ spent upgrading TPI is better spent on a new induction system.

Would you consider an LT1 intake? you could utilize your TPI throttle body.....actually I'm not sure it would fit, I think its longer and would run into your coil and distributor. I also don't know if the manifold to cylinder head bolt pattern is different....

You can use the LT1 intake, but it has to be modified with a distributor hole. There's someone selling intakes all ready to go allready.

Paul, I recently read some new info on the Accell base. Seems that edlebrock is now the only one making bases for tpi. Someone recently bought the Accell unit and inside the accell box is an edlebrock casting. A little more digging turns out everybody else quit casting manifolds and is now rebadging the edlebrock as their own. So unless you want to pay lingenfelter or accell for the box, gotta go edlebrock.

the TPI throttle body works on all the inductions.

Plus it's a Stealthram for $600 :O)

But id depends on what you wanna do.

i don't know if it's "caving" but i do plan on swapping induction systems in the future. it might be the same time i swap engine blocks though Very Happy

of course these plans are all verry tentative. and no firm date yet.

If you like the TPI look there is also the FIRST TPI setup. That will run you about 1200 bones though.
