eh, not really any dents, looks pretty decent, paint is crap tho, just plain white, mine at least has some glossy shine to it, oh and hers has a bra! Cool

I'd go after it, but I've decided to redo the heads on my POS 85 Z/28. Body will have to come later.....for now its make her run again....

A boom tube from a civic? There had to be a glasspack ( i know they are close to the same design) lying around???!

nah friend cut my fart cannon off of his chevy celebrity, gave it to me and paid $65 to have it installed, straight tube all the way back to it, i think 2 1/2? maybe 2 1/4. noticed like +20hp from that and my cold air intake. i used to have a glasspack installed, but it restricted, and it was old, so i thought hey why the hell not put this on, it looks nicer

dude.. thhe butt dyno is not verry acurate. IF you noticed a difference it was probably in your head. if you did not it is probably more like 5HP. a cold air intake does not realy give you much HP, it does give better gas mialage though. i also noteiced my engine running cooler after i installed it.

heh, my muffler guy charged $45 to cut my CAT off and install a pipe, then $65 to install my fart cannon, not bad Smile

i fixed that for you. you see, since it is illegal in the state of washington to modify a cars exhaust system in that way, you must have made a typo. no exhaust shop would do that as they could get in trouble. so it never happened.... right? Wink right.

i also did not have a fellow crewbie install a delete pipe in my exhaust system, as that would be wrong.... Very Happy Wink

also, no that is not realy that great of a deal. i would not say you got "ripped off" or anything, but that is not "cheap" at all. it is about what i would expect to pay for cutting the old one out, doing one weald and making a custom hanger.

Actually, Tony, that's the going (albeight high) rate for that kind of welding work at an exhaust shop. And most of the time they do a crappy job too.

Edit: I remember a couple topics on TGO about how the dual-snorkle gets to narrow for good airflow when it goes over the radiator. Not having anything to compare, I couldn't say for sure, but mine does get pretty thin in that area.

Actually guys he got a fair deal all around for what was done. I've been charged $65 several times JUST to install a muffler, that I already had.

Also keep in mind, this dude is in Toppensih... if it's not technically part of the yakima reservation, it may as well be.

There are exhaust shops all over the country that will do illicit things, you just don't get a receipt.

thank you twilight, and yes toppenish is a native american reservation, all of it. i thought $65 was a bit high to install my muffler, the guy in yak said he would have done it for $40 but i wanted it done now and it was like 6:30 pm, anyways what i think im gonna do is take my car too the cheapest mechanic i can find, have him put high compression pistons and that would fix my prob since he would need too change the connecting rods anyways, might be spendy but ill feel a hp increase, maybe 10.5:1?

for the cost of that work you could purchgase your mothers car. and have more HP and a better base to build from then your 3.1. if you are dead set on building from a GM 60*v6 platform thats cool. the parts do exist and you will end up with a great autoX machine if you do it right.

but if you ever want to run with the bigdogs on the road course or a quarter mile you are going to need two more cylanders and another 30* of piston offset. Very Happy or enough juice to blow yourself up. Twisted Evil

i was thinking about it though, my dads worked on my moms car before, even though they dont get along, and said the quarter panels are starting to rust and so is the frame, so yeah Sad

hey Danked if your thinking of just having a mechanic replace the pistons & rods, its a really bad idea, its a grenade waiting to happen
first off any real mechanic wouldnt do it, as they would be liable for the almsot certain damages that will occur
certain things you never put in new to a broken in motor
your cylinders have a wear pattern from the current pistons, if you put in new pistons without honing the walls, it will at the least screw your pistons up
plus you will need new rings & rod bearings, same thing applies with the rod bearings too, ie the wear pattern
sure it can be done, but i would NEVER trust that motor

by the time you are done, honing the walls & main bearings, you might as well just spend the extra $$$ & time & have the bottom end rebuilt correctly anyways

now i now it has & can be done, sometimes you can get away with just rebuilding the bottom end & leave the heads alone, but if your wanting to increase the compression, i would have the heads rebuilt too, especially if they have some miles on em, as the bottom end would be fresh with higher compression & they heads would be old & tired, its possible you could blow a head clean off the block, (it has happended to people before)

i guess the moral of my story is, certain things you do right the first time, or you end up spending more time & $$$ to redo it right a second time ( i know this cause when i was younger i did this very same kind of stuff & once in a while i got lucky, but usually i didnt)

cause id hate to see anyone spend the $$$ on new pistons & other parts, put them in & have the motor blow up & then the $$$ & time that was spent just putting in the pistons is wasted, as most likely they wouldnt be reusable
