Ive got a brand new prestige 2 way alarm/keyless entry i got from a co worker, i have no use for it because ive got a clifford remote start, i had this same alarm on my 02 lancer and i loved it, remote has a lcd screen with full 2 way page so when you lock it the remote vibrates and beeps for conformation, its a good piece ive just got it in my bench all ready to go!

I googled it (APS596A) and the average price is about 100- 150, if anyone wants it id be willing to install it for you, as long as your car has power locks functioning already for 150, keep in mind our cheapest junk alarm bare bones customers still leave paying atleast 250+, so its a pretty good deal lol

Hit me up if youre interested ive gotta get my damn motor finished somehow so it looks like i have to resort to moonlighting it Laughing

How does it compare to the CompuStar 2WSSR which is a bit more expensive. Sounds like quite a few of the same features. If remote start, will it work with a stick shift like my CompuStar?

I work at cartoys, I have to charge more for labor the way the company breaks down the intall types, basic keyless you get lock and unlock, "premium" includes light flash horn honk/ chirp etc, if I do a base clifford with no actuators or modules my labor is 130 plus the price of the unit. When you buy a product and have it installed the cost is nearly doubled, setting up actuators is easy too lol

Al im not sure on the compustar never seen one, the prestige can have a remote start added on to it with a secondary module like luke has that you program to the original fob to the accessory output and you can make it work for manuals with a relay, our company policy is not to hook it to sticks because you can always start in gear, everyone at work has remote start and ive seen my coworkers civic jump a few times but if you always leave it in neutral then youre good, its pretty much a personal responsibility thing there

Using the fob, the CompuStar doesn't have the capability to remote start a stick shift car. The car has to be shut down following a certain group of steps before it will arm itself.

Stop and put car in neutral.
Engage the parking brake.
Remove the key from ignition - motor continues to run.
Get out and shut the door - motor will shhut off and alarm will arm.

No looking for labor, just a what kit fits my car.

Mazda forums are like TGO... hit and miss and hard to decipher sometimes.

I want the keyless entry, then the alarm to go ontop of it.

The alarm I installed in my 87 10 years ago is a Prestige. It still works great, and I like it alot. It's much better then whatever it was I installed in the yota. If they've kept up their quality then I'd recommend it to anyone.

If my car had had electric locks then the prestige would have worked with them. Since my car did not have electric locks I installed universal actuators. There wasnt much random about the install. Very easy really. They just clamped to the lock rod, then you mount the solenoid to the door. I used Crutchfields house brand of actuators.

The rx7 all manual? or have electric locks allready? As I read this he only has the control unit for sale. You'll still need to buy actuators if you're manual lock.

Hehe.. well.. to me the keyless kit is the control box.. not the actuators.. but we all know what you want now.

Technically all alarm/keyless systems are universal, I cut out atleast half the wires on alarms that are not used in every application, its just a matter of figuring out what you need and clipping what you dont I did an 85 4runner last week and installed actuators and I used a total of 10 wires on the entire brain

To set up a manual lock for keyless youve gotta mount the actuators, run wires thru the door boot ( or drill, run, and seal) up to the brain which controls the lock/unlock output
