So I found a sweet deal on a cam very similar to the LT4 hotcam that all the LT1 guys love so much but wanted to see what you all thought.

The cam is a 218/218 .495/.495 114LSA

The LT4 hotcam is 218/228 .492/.492 112LSA

Stock LT1 cam 230 208 .450/.460 116

I'm not too worried about the tuning aspect, since i have to have my computer flashed anyway to get rid of vats, egr, rear o2, etc. i can easily have them tune it for the cam i throw in.

I know i need springs as well, but does anybody know of that will be too much lift for a stock head? valve guide clearance?

If it were me, I wouldn't take the risk when it comes to valvetrain components. Take the heads off, have the guides milled, and if your budget allows, full roller rockers, guideplates and screw in studs.

I know most traditional SBC heads in stock form can handle about .480 lift before things get real fuzzy with valve guide clearance. Some heads can handle more, some less.

I'd error on the side of caution. My humble $.02
