welcome to the wounderfull world of ECM tuning............
the best way to BEGIN is to read the howto tune ecm articules in DIY PROM board on 3rd gen dot org. they are pretty much step by step .. AND its exactly the information your are looking for..
WBO2 is a must after basic tuning.....dyno would help, but we have some long steep hills that work almost as good..
good luck

MAP vs RPM table. That's your "BASE" map. All acceleration enrichment, power enrichment, etc run off that table. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

If VE stands for Volumeric effeciency then i have 3 tables for it, one for up 1600rpm and one up to 5600 and one up to 6400rpm. _________________

Those would be the ones.
Do they have a lot of overlap? usually you have one large table, that covers 0-100kpa and the rest of the tables are adder tables, that will cover RPM changes, and that are based on percentage changes to the main table.
Maybe I should just look at the 8d table setup, and let you know, lol. |

You've got the modded file with the extended VE tables. Wow. I can't believe I remember that. |

RS- You get the lovely joy of editing your MAF Tables.
Basically lying to the ECM about the incoming air.
Power Enrichment is a calculated Load vs RPM. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

Some guys on TGO were saying to mod the MAF Scaler tables and others said no, just the MAF tables. Which is correct? _________________ '86 Trans Am - 5.0L TPI - LT1 cam - 700R4 - WS6

IMHO MAF is pretty close everywhere but idle. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

John, why are you trying to break things? Your car had near-perfect A/F on the dyno. |

I still have the previous BIN. I'm just seeing what effect certain changes have on performance. _________________ '86 Trans Am - 5.0L TPI - LT1 cam - 700R4 - WS6

That is where the math comes in. But, since your at 160 BLM, you are WAY off, so you can do pretty good sized changes, 10-25% type changes.
If the BLM's get to 128, you got it right.
If they BLM's go under 128, you added too much
If they are still higher than 128, you didn't add enough. |
