How ironic, I bought one just like it the other day. Getting a red one this weekend.

Well, logically he would have had to change it at 15K... Laughing

Probably and upgrade. You'll notice the engine and trans went in at the same time.

oh duhh. Doh!

Most likely. The side of the car says 427. So makes sense.

Hrmm... Nice car. I'd spend my money elsewhere. That might even be a mk2 chassis @ nine years old.

Like on a down payment for house? This is the same reason I refuse to buy a new truck. It's just too much dang money!

Nope. Got that covered. That car would pay for 2.5 of my houses. Very Happy

Very nice looking

However, If I was to build a kit car, that is not how I would set it up.

Smack!

BTW, 501 is a stroker Lima. My guess would be he had a SBF or an FE in it before and decided he wanted cheaper cubes. I also doubt he had a 427 in it. You'd pay 15-25K for one of those by itself. LMAO

Thats probably not a bad price for it, but price is what most people leverage when looking at something like this. If you had your heart set on a Cobra kit, painted blue and planned to drive it this is the car for you. You could not build it for less. If I had the mmens to purchase other 9 other cars on my wish list and the funds to back it up, this would make it a nice round number of 10 in the garage.

I love the Cobra kits, still remember the guy that lived next door to my best in HS and his black Cobra kit with a GM 427 and Muncie 4 speed in it. One bad a$$ car.

Now that's an interesting choice. More power per dollar at the time or more reliable per dollar?

Ian, you do know what 'FE' stands for, right? Wink

Reliability doesn't even enter into it. The problem with the FE is that it was primarily a truck motor through most of it's life. It's an extremely reliable beast in general, but it's very hard to find performance stuff for them, and when you do it's like it's made out of gold.
