I know plenty of you guys tow and/or wheel, so I know you've all got opinions on truck tires. All the other tire topics on here are for stupid f-bodies, and we all know that f-body tires are just there to make the car easier to roll in and out of the shop. Razz

Right now I've got some crap mall-terrain load-range D tires on my Ford. 255/85/16 (the metric equivalent of 33x9.5's). They got lousy traction, make too much noise for an AT, and if you put any weight on them they turn into week-old donuts. It's just bad news bears all around. Rolling Eyes

I need something that's hard enough to survive towing at freeway speed, but also isn't going to get me stuck in the first mud puddle. They need to be available in 33 or 35 for a 16" rim, and stiff as hell. Noise isn't an issue (I can't hear anything over the diesel clatter anyhow) nor is ride quality (old truck, rides like a tank). Price isn't a huge issue, although I can't go too crazy (I own a Chevy after all).

It seems a lot of guys have a big chubbie for Toyo M55's. Not sure if anyone on here runs them. Interwebs people are claiming 50K from a set, and they look to have fairly aggressive tread for an AT.

I had BFG mud terrains on my Chevy Duramax. Truck had a tuner and turbo back and the tires totally hooked up in 2WD during launches from idle. I couldn't believe the traction, and they were pretty quiet. Of course, Chevy's don't wheel hop like the crappy Ford suspensions.

I had some mud terrain too. Went to nitto terra grapplers. Way happier since I mainly do road driving. But take them off road and they still do good.97 tahoe, 35x12.5, 6" lift.

When I bought my truck it still had the stock tires on it. They were horrible, rock hard load range D Good Year, which also looked tiny on the truck.
The stockers were swapped out at 45K for Micheline M/S LT265-75-16's, load range E. The truck now has 115K on it and theres still decent tread left on the Michelin's. They work awsome in the snow, ride quite and can handle more weight then what should be loaded onto the truck. Fuel economy is something to consider though. My truck lost about 1.5 MPG with the Michelin's. I dont know if it's becuase of the larger size or softer rubber? It doesnt bother me to much, the truck still gets 24 on the HWY and 17 - 18 around town.

Check out this site - lots of good information specific to this topic.

ive been happy with my bfg all terrains, 285/75/16's e range. i tow lots of equipment and cars on a 10,000 lb trailer. the road noise is minimal and the traction is decent. if yokohama still made the original geolanders id b all over them as they kicked asss.

ive heard good things on the mtr's as well.

I used to have BFG wild country's. They were good, didn't like the look as much as the mud terrains. Both ride nice.
