It's a 5/16 line BTW :O)

I just don't like that idea because there's no sock filter on the bottom of that line.

Yeah and it doesnt go all the way to the bottom of the tank. So I'll never use a full tank.

It will still pick up debris.

In my opinion which accounts for about jack crap cause Ive never touched a carb. I would wire the intake pump back up. Install an inline pressure regulator under the hood, and ditch the mech pump. Then tune it.

If you want that carb pickup, it's yours.

Otherwise, Jay is right.

The pump needs to either work, or be out of there.

I third this. Ignition Key on, ideally with an oil pressure switch but not 100% necessary. Good return regulator to adjust down to your carb spec.

Pump will eventually have to come out.

What exactly is a carb pickup?

Oil pressure switch is good cheap insurance. Especially with a stick. If you stall it out it can flood and you can't get it restarted. Only costs like $10 anyhow.

The power of google: *From Thirdgen.org

Firebird or Camaro Fuel pump option:
This one requires dropping the fuel tank. You must replace your stock in tank fuel pump with either a carb pickup from an older carbed f body or simply a section of hose. A good pump to use is the Holly Red or Blue in-line electric pumps. Install it according to the included directions.

Other things you should know. Your SES light will come on, and stay on. Since it no longer controls anything, it means nothing, ignore it or remove the bulb. Also, if you have an automatic, the computer will no longer lockup your torque converter. All this means is that you will lose a little gas mileage when cruising in 4th gear over 35mph. You can either live with it, rig your own lockup switch (see the article in Tech Central), or there is a kit available that will take care of it.

Well, you're almost to the moment of truth. Double check all connections. Make sure your lines don't leak. Now, crank her over. If you did everything right it'll fire right up and purr. The first thing you should do is set your timing, then start to tune the carb, but that is a whole other article. Go under your passenger side dash, pull out the ECM, and remove it. Start a bonfire, get naked, have some beer. Throw the ECM in the fire, dance around it and chant, for you have just joined the world of raw, primitive POWER!!!!

But is this talking about if you had a mechanical fuel pump?

Oh. Right. K, so what do I put in the tank instead of the pump? Is this where the pickup comes in? Laughing

Return line will pull from the bottom, I think I've put 15 gallons in my car before.

I put an electric pump under the car back close to the tank. It's a little Napa pump that I bought used in a yard sale for $1. Laughing I need no regulator because it only makes like 4 psi at the carb.

I need to redo the whole thing someday, but it works fine

Ok. Found something else on Thirdgen.org that makes a little more sense.

Aaron, how much you want for that carb pickup?
