well its finaly happend. i got my first speeding ticket. its for doin 42 in a 30 (but i could have sworin the speed limit on that road was 35). and as far as the being lucky part what happend was i got stuck behide some asshole in a 05+ stang that was pumping there breaks and doing 20 mph so i tryed to pass in the oncoming lane but the ass hole just punch the gas and i had to fall back because cars where geting closer in my lane so next time i had a straight shot i fell back a bit and got some speed on him before trying to pass.it worked but he did try to block again so by the time i was infront of him i was doin just over 60 as i was coming around a bend and then my radar detector started making a bit of noise so i hit the break pretty hard and sure enought a cop hoped out the bushes infront of me and waved me over to the side the road and told me he got me at 42 so i was pretty happy cause i figured that for 7 over i would just get a warning but i guess it was 12 over so that cost me 150$ wich sucks but is probley a hole lot better than 30 over in a 30 zone plus i did just unlawfuly pass that mustang. and lucky the mustang turned off when the road forked off right before the bend and right befor the cop hoped out the bush so he didnt get to get his laughs watching me get pulled over.so i think i got pretty damn lucky with this. but is still sucks cause its my first ticket that was for my driving the only other 2 were for not having proof of insurance and no front plate wich this cop did tell me i needed the plate but he sayed he would give me a warning on that _________________

Hey Luke, any input? hahaha
sounds like you got really lucky though. What would've happened if you didnt have the radar detector? |

Get a lawyer. Get it tossed out. Deferral only is good once every seven(?) years. Save it for something really stupid, don't blow your load on this peanuts stuff and then get popped for a good one once you've used it.
Also, if you plan on having insurance, don't agree to a reduced fine. Insurance rates go up regardless of how reduced the fine was by mitigating circumstances. All or nothing for those guys. |

differal means you pay the ticket and it doesnt go on your record, you have to pay it on the date you go to court and you get another differal in 7 years, but if you get another ticket within the seven years both tickets will go on your record.
my advice, pay a lawyer to take care of it, its worth the price i have had 4 speeding tickets 1 which happened to be negligent driving to the 2nd degree, $550 ticket, all of mine got dismissed, my record is clean, insurance is hella low, and i still have a differal, just pay a lawyer its worth every penny _________________

Glad you didn't get popped for the full speed you were going. However, just because there wasn't a sign doesn't mean there wasn't a speed limit there. There is little to no chance that defense would work in front of a judge. Depending on what county/city you were in, they'll have on the books a fallback speed limit that you should always assume it is unless otherwise posted. Most often 25 in city limits and 30/35 outside city limits. I also suggest a lawyer. Most take payments nowadays if you let them know you're financially strapped.
First things first, go down and request discovery to get the officers notes. _________________

Way to nut up
Too bad the judge couldn't read this thread. If there was a speed limit sign would that have kept you from passing someone right before a blind corner at 30 mph over the limit? I kind of doubt it. |

I kind of doubt it. | well first off i didnt pass in the coner i passed befor the coner and second it wasnt a blind conor i could see all the way around it and there was no one but the mustage in sight. the only reson i could see around the bend and still got pulled over was because they had there cruizers parked way back off the road and the cops were hiding in a bush.and then the only reson i was speeding and wasnt doing the speed limit was because the dumbass in the mustage that wanted to go 20 then trys to block me when i try to go around him _________________

is there some type of limit on that? does it only work on traffic infractions or for anything you get caught doing anything in a car? _________________ -Donald
