Heater valve ditch is a good idea. However he still needs to tap vacuum to run the doors under his dash. Otherwise he'll have nothing other than defrost. Women tend not to appreciate things like that.
| iansane wrote: | | Is that how nonAC cars run it? My vacuum lines came through the firewall right below the heater core tubes (ish). |
Separate grommet? I could have sworn the one in my IROC and the one in my Z were in the harness itself. |

I can't say for 100% for I'm 98% sure the heater/AC wiring and vacuum lines came through their own grommet/section of the firewall almost dead center. /gnats memory |

Lol. I went from TBI to carbed, so i had to have taken out 100 wires. That harness that came through the passenger side fender had a bunch of wires i didn't need. But I still have the harness. If theres a vacuum line, I'll find it. lol |

That's what I'm doing. Can't say I've noticed the doors changing around while I'm driving. |

All you need to do is plug the line from the heater valve. Two separate hard lines going into the interior compartment. One for the heater valve, and one is engine vacuum feed. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

| This is the same for a carbed engine right? and do you have the vacuum line running from the engine to the purple line? That's input from what i've seen. |

| The heater valve diverts coolant from the heater core when cool settings are selected. |

That valve was designed to keep the interior cooler when the windows were up and the aircon or vent was on. Which is stupid... Unless you're over forty. Then it starts to make sense again. |

| You still need to find where that purple feed tube terminates, and get it check-valved vacuum from the reservoir. |

Not the evap canister.
The vacuum reservoir.
Usually under the evap canister. It keeps vacuum in the system when there is no vacuum. Since all the controls are vacuum operated, if you have your setting on vent.... and got WOT where there is no engine vacuum, the vent setting will end up on defrost. The reservoir keeps vacuum to the system so it doesn't change. Same with Cruise Control. Go up a hill where the engine has less vacuum, cruise might cut out without the reservoir. That's why the res is directly plumbed into the cruise and hvac system. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

Dude, I don't mean to be rude here, but several people just wrote two pages here for you on how to do this. You could read it. |
