|
|
I now have a used axle sitting in my garage with no brakes, no backing plates, no reluctor rings for the ABS & traction control, and a squeal from the driver side bearing. Basically, it's near worthless except the fact it does have a 2-series carrier Torsen limited slip (2.73 gears).
1. Does the Torsen drop into a 3rd gen 10 bolt?
2. Do any of you yahoos want it?
The Torsen is not a clutch style posi that wears out. It's basically a mild mechanical locker that locks up when wheel slip is detected. No wires, no electronics. It came in LS1 cars from 1999 - 2002. (1998 still had the clutch posi.) |

That's a pretty cool piece you have there. Can you not use it on yours? I think the torsens have the least amount of breaking torque. Doesn't someone have a spec for all the breaking torque for the different carriers? _________________ E30

Spoken like a true engineer, asking for specifications. Heck if I know the specs.
The other axle I picked up had it's own Torsen carrier with 3.42 gears. This old one is a 2-series carrier and I don't have a need for it. Remember, this Camaro is just a temporary buy and sell for profit. I don't want to keep anything from it.
By the way, I just let a clone of my '01 SS go for $6000 on another no reserve ebay auction. It was a steal. It was in your neck of the woods in Oregon. So it's happened twice now. I'm pretty sure if I keep watching I can do this many times over and make some money just by concentrating on 4th gen SS cars. I have yet to see a Trans Am that is a good deal. |
