| At least I think its the clear coat. K so we went up 4 wheelin in my truck and needless to say, that trail wasnt meant for an F-350. (Wasn't my idea to go up the trail, and I didnt know it was like that) So now, I'm left with nice scratches in my paint. Tried buffing it out with a random orbit polisher and normal buffing compound but that didnt take it out. Ideas? |

Is it grey? Shiny?
Also, no offense, but you should buy a real truck if you want to actually use it. |

That guy needs a front bumper bad. His IC is hanging out there just begging to get smacked off. Whole truck looks kinda unprotected. Hell of a drivetrain, though. |

how bad are the scratches?
Run your fingernail perpendicular to the surface where the scratches are. If you can feel them or they catch your nail, no amount of polishing will get them out. You can buff to get the white to go away but thats it.

For starters, I love my truck. I don't take it 4 wheelin. It's not meant for that. However, the scratches aren't deep. They're just surface. Next time we're takin his Dodge Ram up there so he can get some nice scratches. |

| Okkkkayyy, so what kind of buffing compound can I use to get the scratches out? Obviously I shouldn't have gone up there in the first place, But I couldn't very well turn around. Damage is done. Now how do I get rid of it? |

Check my last post.
If you cant feel them, you can wet sand the worst ones with 2500/3000 grit sand paper. Then just polish them out.
I use the same Norton compound with different pads. But each polishing system is different just have to figure out what works.
Edit:
I use Farecla G3 polish. Its clay based, so you use it with water. Start with just polish, then when the polish starts to be clear on the panel, add water, repeat until all the swirls/scratches. I use this on old paint.
At work I use Nortons Liquid Ice polish system. 1 polish, 3 pads. Really simple and easy. Great results too. It doesnt work on old clear/paint it doesnt work that fast. _________________ 1987 - Trans am GTA, hooker headers, Borla catback, Cat delete, CAI, 9.6 @ 75mph 1/8mile
