How did you install the knock sensor?

If it's in too far it will be over sensative and the ECM will pull all kinds of timing out.

well i screwed it in until it was more that snug, it felt like it was about to bottom out so i stopped tightening.. there was still threads showing on the knock sensor when i was done tightening it tho. do you think i should try backing it out some? if so how much would you recommend? like just past finger tight or something?

Yeah, you've got that bugger in WAY too far.

It's some small little spec. Look it up in the repair manual.

Honsely I screw them in just until I feel it wont leak coolant. You'll need to drain the coolant and reseal it too if you back it out from here.

Ya that's weird. The installation procedure from my Haynes manual says "intsallation is reverse as removal" so I'll try backing it out and see what happens. Thanks

If you're using the Haynes aftermarket manual, the torque specs will be listed at the beginning of the chapter, not in the article itself.

The torque spec is like 14-15 ft lbs, IIRC, basically just barely wrist snug.
