Does anybody else keep a spare valve spring in their glove box? Laughing That looks to be #4, since I have 12 more out of a set of 16 left. I think i've changed every exhaust spring on the passenger head now.. but I don't really remember which ones. That's the reason I havent gone ahead and changed the rest. Lunati springs, lunati voodoo cam. To be sorta fair however, lunati changed spring suppliers between the first set and my new set.

For another positive, this is the first spring to break since the Jeg's rockers. This one didnt move out of position or bend the pushrod. So only damage was the spring.

Glad to hear the valve didn't make contact with the piston. I've heard this can be bad. Very Happy

After 4 tries, it appears that theres enough room for the dampner to hold the valve up. Laughing Gotten almost used to it.. start to hear a popping noise, look down at vacuum gauge.. bouncing to beat hell.. yup.. broke another one.

I sure hope your luck holds on breaking these and not causing any damage.

I bought some Crane "cool nuts" when I built the 468 in my pickup. The damned things only caught the top 3 threads of the rocket arm studs and broke off three of the top of the studs in less than 1 minute of running the brand new engine. Pieces of crap. I fired up my CNC lathe and made some up out of stress proof steel. That was in 1989. They are still on the engine working just fine.

That was the second run in I'd had with Crane crap.

Still think there may be an oiling problem. Oil cools the spring.

Nothing looks hot, everything is quite oily.. and if you take the valve cover off and start it, look out.

Both sets of rockers oil differently too. This set kind of directs the oil to vital parts.

Everythings matched set Lunati.

I really think its the first set of valve springs I got. They have changed to a better manufacturer since. I'm also pushing the lift right to the max of what these springs will take. I really shouldnt have used 1.6 rockers.
