ok so i recently got done detaling with a friend, my neighbors car since he's done alot for me so i though it would be a nice suprise. and he suggested that i should try advertising by doing flyers on detaling vehicles and i really have no idea on what price i should charge, any idea?

bronze, wash/interior/engine bay
silver, above + wax
gold, above + clay/scratch removing + cleaner wax
platnium, above + mic. stuff like metal polishing, trim detailer, etc.

thats about everything i offer (wax/polish/scratch removing) is all done by machine.

iv been detaling my own vehicles for quite a while now and i think + others think i do a dang good job.

so what do you think i should charge for each package, i probaly missed something but thats about the basics, thanks

Your entry package needs to be more simple to save money. Just exterior and interior. I'd skip the engine bay until the top end package. Offering to clean the engine bay could be your worst nightmare.

thanks and no im not using a lawnmower, im using a wood chipper. iv kinda skipped the whole thing and just gonna do a wash service like, 10 bucks for small-med car, 12 for large car, 16 for small/med suv, 20 for large suv, 18 for small/med truck, 22 for large truck and up, 18 for van. sounds like a far price for wash/wax car soap, wheel clean, tire clean, and dry?

you could simplify things and just charge $20 to wash people's cars regardless of type. Vacuum the interior as an added bonus to the customer. be careful calling it "detailing" as people have considerably higher expectations when their cars are detailed verses being washed. just my $0.02. Smile

If people want a quick wash then they use a drive thru. They don't look you up in the Yellow Pages and make an appointment for Tuesday. Your idea is the same as a mobile wash & detailing service that does the job where ever the owner parks the car. That's going to be your competition.

Don't get me wrong, you should be able to make some extra cash. But I wouldn't rely on it for much income.

How much experience do you have running a buffer? You can eat through a clearcoat pretty damn quick if you aren't careful or know what you are doing. There is no way i'd let someone near my car that wasn't a professional or had some kind of insurance against mistakes like that.

I'd stick to just washing if i were you, the last thing you want is to eff up someone's car because you caught an edge and burned through their clearcoat.

I'd go for it. He has references that say he does a good job; just cause he's a little annoying sometimes doesn't mean he can't be good at cleaning cars. Go with the flow, if he screwed up my car it wouldn't kill me. I need to repaint it due to freeway rocks within a couple years anyway.

Incidentally and a little off topic, I've noticed an improvement in post content from this kid. Maybe we're actually helping him out a bit by giving him some mature, responsible adult truths every once in a while. Laughing

If I lived closer I'd go over there and take before/after dirty/clean pictures and write up a review of his services and demeanor just for S&G.

hehe just got 35 bucks for washing a lady's newish f-250 which took about 2 hrs of work but hey i say that was a good deal! btw there was another person helping.

So 35 / 2hrs = 17.5 / 2 for two man crew = 8.75 per hour.

You almost made minimum wage. Wink

Don't feel to bad about it, dude. When I was 13 I had a job cleaning a church on Saturday night. Only made like four bucks an hour (minimum was like 5 bucks back then). Rolling Eyes
