AFAIK nobody lifetime warranties batteries anymore. To much chance of losing your ass.

I have run both the Exide Orbital and the Optima RedTop, I have abused them both horribly, and been very pleased by both.

The Red Top sat all winter in the Monterey, then had to crank way to much due to a bad pickup coil, but took it like a champ.

The Orbital sat on the shelf at Schmucks for like a year before I got it. I've run it completely out of charge, bump-started it, and kept rolling several times.

I have heard bad things about the new Optimas (made out of the country, quality control in the trash, ect.) but mine is an older one, so I couldn't say for sure.

Make sure to disconnect your battery if the car sits for awhile. Or invest in one of those battery tenders.

My schucks orbital battery finally took a dump after the bodyshop left my door ajar for two weeks when they had it. I picked up an optima to replace it. (I liked the red to match the car Laughing ) and toasted it within a few weeks. Second one is going well I think.

I've got video of the optima steaming. Very Happy

You're thinking about this backwards. You want a good battery in a car that sits, it will have a better chance of surviving.

That said, if you just want to get it running, go to your local yard and see if they have any remans. Or if you guys have Budget Battery stores down in Oregon, go there.

Well now everyone knows who to look for when their car doesn't start the morning of the dyno lol

Been thru Interstates, napa, schucks, exide, and 2 optimas (first one would not hold a charge at all from brand new......

The interstate or the Red second red top seem to have been the best to batteries.

Can you grow a beard? Razz

Seriously though, I have never been carded at any junkyard ever.

Hell, when I was a kid my Dad used to take me out to A1 in Parkland (doesn't exist anymore). I was maybe 12, 13. No one gave a cr*p. Laughing

I have had an Interstate battery in my car for the last 5 years and it has never given me any problems. Thats about 2 years longer than any battery i've ever had! Of course now that i've said this it will die next week Laughing

Your friend is wrong. I've been going to LKQ since I was 16.
