well it happened, after being pulled over a number of times i finaly got my first ticket(s)

the first ticket and why i got pulled over was for 124$ for the front plate in the window (i cant believe i got a ticket over that this time and i was not expecting 124$)

the second one was a bit more extreme. of courses i get pulled over right after my insurance expires that was a huge 550$ ticket

for a grand total of 674$ that i cant afford and have a million better way to spend

it official shoreline cops hate me

for the no insurance ticket, if you take it to a mitiagation hearing and show that you either now have insurance or had insurance @ the time they pulled you, just no proof they will usually knock the ticket down a little.

Got dinked in Fear-crest for driving without the ins. card, cop wrote the ticket for 450 or 550 or somesuch ungodly amount. Ended up not even having to go to court to get it thrown out. Secretary girl did it for me. Cost $10. She was cute too. Very Happy

If you let it expire, just pay your premium, (stupid not to) and then get it thrown out.

As for the plate thing, find a bracket in the JY. Throw it on the car, take a pic, and then contest the ticket. Say you fixed the problem and you want it thrown out.

^ All of the above is sub-marginal legal advice.

Actually, all cops hate Camaros, especially 3rdgens! Wink

Every time I've gotten pulled over for no front plate (twice in Tacoma and once in Federal Way) I've gotten away with a warning. Cool

The best thing you can learn is how to drive to avoid cops. Learn what streets they patrol, where their speed traps are, what time shift changes are (twice the cruisers out during shift change).

You will also need to learn routes in and out of frequent destinations. I can drive around Tacoma for days without seeing a cop just because I know were they aren't going to be.

Oh my gosh.... you guys are such morons. Laughing Just put a damn plate on the front of the car and carry an insurance card with you. Hold still for a second....

*reaches through computer screen*

Smack!

*Listens for the head smack*

Ah.... ya. That was satisfying.

At first I thought you were being harsh Qwk but then I saw this and decided it was definitely warranted!

Got away for years and years on a barely street legal car but my theory.......... Make sure EVERYTHING on it works and is legal. Lights work plates on insurance in hand! Coarse once in a while I get harassed but I think it is just cause they just want to harass someone and it just to happened to be me! I must admit that most times I have been pulled over I deserved the ticket....... Once in a while I get it and I don't think it was warranted (48 in a 45) lol

RCW 46.16.240 Says that the license plate must be attached to the front and rear of the car, and clearly legible. But it doesn't say where. If the plate was in the window and clearly legible, then its pretty chicken **** to get a ticket on the grounds that it is not on the front if it is visible from the front. I bet you could get it suspended if you mounted it properly and provided a photo showing that the plate was visible from the front as it was.
The argument being that you had a plate, it was being displayed and was visible from the front but have since moved it to the front bumper to appease the bored cop.

IIRC there is a height requirement for the plate too. It can't be more than XX" from the ground, but I forget what that figure is too. Windshield barely meets the requirement.

54"

Although that's just because the bumper height law is 54" or lower from the ground. Very Happy

ok well i thought i would just give every one a update on what happend with this. i had court on friday and i put the plate on and took a pic and they let me right out of that ticket, right after court the plate came back off and not in the window this time. as for the insurance ticket i got insuance befor court but the proof i had didnt list me on the policey so they are mailing me another court date for some time in May to bring proof, but if it gose anthing like the other 10 people that got no insuance tickets that were there it is gona be reduced to 150$ so im pretty happy with that causes taking my tickets from 674$ to 150$ is great news plus i have till May befor i even have court again. so it all turned out good and was a pretty intertaning day lising to people argue with the judge Rolling Eyes Laughing like thats gona help them lol. but the scary im thinking about since after court is that every single person that went befor me in court didnt have insurance Shocked kinda makes driving suck alot more knowing most the people driving around you dont have insurance

Just make sure that by accepting the reduced sentence, they don't make you carry an SR-22 or some BS. You could save $400 bucks here just to have your insurance go up by that amount each month.

Fixed it for ya. Very Happy

cameron7710 wrote:

Just remember, this is a sales tax state. Not only do most people driving around not have insurance, they also don't actually own the car (no title transfer).

The WA state taxman is cracking down brutally. They are artificially jacking up the "taxable value" of vehicles way above bluebook, hoping some suckers will just pay and not fight it. In the case of my Ford they had it valued at over twice what the KBB did, and like four times what I actually paid.

This causes more and more people to not be able to afford transfer taxes, so the just drive around with a signed title in the glovebox.

You mentioned how entertaining it was to listen to the flimsy excuses and lies that people come up with. Those people are so obviously foolish, aren't they? Laughing It is humorous how they think they are so smart, and some are so wrapped up in their lies and fantasy that they can't even recognize truth and reality any longer.

Now reflect on your own choice for a moment. You've chosen to let the cycle repeat itself. This is exactly how all those other people began their cycle of problems. You've got a chance to become a better person, Cameron. Or would you rather become one of them within 5 - 10 years? Put your energy into something better. And put your money in something more fun. Wink
