|
|
Well i picked myself up a 91 S10 blazer 4x4 for a winter rig with the usual 4.3. So far ive already got a set of 4.3 Vortec heads off a 96 blazer.
My plan is to swap the heads and do an edelbrock intake. I was wondering if anyone here has done this before or not? I had a couple questions and maybe some insight sense i've never done this before.
So already i have Edelbrock headers, and smog pump delete and PO put in a hypertech chip. Hoping that with these heads and intake and dual exhaust it will open her up a bit |

S10's are fun, aren't they? I've got a Camaro 3.1 in an 83/85/89 Franken-pickup with a Holley 4bl, and longtubes.
Are you doing a carb swap, or keeping the TBI? |

I wanna stick with the TBI for now. I gotta find out what motor i have in it now because i found a receipt in the glove box for a Gm rebuild motor and Gm Trans at a later date. So once i figure that out and get the numbers off my heads i'll try to figure more out.
So far im at a loss at what intake manifold im gonna need at this point until i figure out what i have
But yeah this thing is fun, its got a 4" lift and on 30's right now. I dunno if i can stuff 32's under it without rubbing while turning though.

Those are the headers i got now. The blazer was original from California and has big exhaust and magna flow muffler but it is quiet all the time...that needs to change lol Thats why i wanna switch to true dual
Also looking at getting this-

Edelbrock makes a manifold for stock TBI units. Look up part #3713. I have no idea how much gain you'll see over the stocker though. The popular thing to do among the S10 guys is to drill the stock intake and run a bigger TB. |

I put vortec heads on my '89 Jimmy. Could barely get it to run without major tuning.
Also needed bigger injectors to keep up with the fuel demands.
Goodluck with the hypertech chip. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

Pretty much what I said before. Then the Vortecs can stand to have a few degrees of timing taken out. They are a much more efficient chamber, so the spark doesn't have to start as early.
Then it's just adding more fuel especially in the AE tables.
You can semi cheat with the bigger injectors but it's only a temp fix. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |
