i found like half of a coin collection in my room, i think my dad gave it to me a few years back, but anyway it was worth maybe $50, but in silver it was worth $488 so the coin place gave me $488 cash...talk bout a good day!

it was silver dollars, silver half dollars, a lot of silver coins, and nickels and pennies and dimes, mix of everything

one silver dollar was from 1883

The same year of steel pennys and few years after was the silver nickles. The mint mark was above the monticello.

I used to have a couple old silver (or whatever they were before now?) quarters hanging around and I really loved the way they resonate when you flick them in the air with your thumb vs the newer regular quarters. There is a definite difference in sound.

1944 and 1945 were the silver nickel years. I have a 1944. mine must be a San Fransisco mint, there's a big "S" stamped above monticello

43 had both, nickle and silver IIRC. Been a while since I dealt with nickles.

Up to 60??? Was silver
60-64 part silver, part um.. yea
65+ clad

Agree, totally different feel, sound, etc.

Lol, I have been trading green money for promises the last 6 years. My 401K has been downgraded to a .401l. Pays off to invest in real metal nowadays.
