All 3d gens came with either a 10 bolt or a 9 bolt. With some very rare exceptions having a dana 44.
The 9 bolt is actually the strongest, but there are very few parts available for it. |

Plus it's the 7 1/2-7 5/8" 10-bolt. Crappy and weak/
Not the good 8.2/8.5 10-bolts! _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

| Don't worry about it, dude. You've got a lot to do before you need to think about whether your 10-bolt will break. |

Travis (blue89) was running one behind a 454, before he went to a 9-bolt. Lack of traction can keep them alive.
BTW, how's that swap coming? |
