				|
 |
				| First off, thanks Paul and Brandon, and the rest who pitched in. Now that the break-in period is over, I thought I'd post an update. I love this new ratio!! Going through the gears is a bit quicker and 5th is actually drivable a bit sooner. The motor turns at 2250 at an indicated 70mph and I got about 22mpg on the way home. As with any mod, the drive home was exciting - "what's that noise" "what's that smell" only to find out it wasn't me.
I did discover a new noise while driving though, an exhaust note from the rear of the car and not a howling rear end
There is an almost inaudible whine from the rear though, normal I would think.
Speedometer is still off a bit, but closer that it was before. I chose the 20 tooth driven gear instead of 21 where the calculators all came up with 20.5. I am off between 1 & 2 tenths over five miles.

One concern, on cold start, when the motor fires up, I have a noise that almost sounds like the exhaust vibrating against the subframe. It sounds like it comes from the transmission area, but after everything is warmed up, it seems to go away.

				| It's a 3.73 gear and a stock T5 tranny for now. Future plans are to swap in a T56 and some more horsepower | |

				| Hey Al glad to hear things are working out! My TA had a slight noise similar to what you have described and would stop once it warmed and was told it was a loose / rattely heat deflector...I don't know for sure! but once that was tweaked, adjusted...what ever was done no more noise!
Food for thought...I just drive the car

It was great to hang with you...

				| That cat looks alot more innocent than my wifes cats. Usually when I see them they are clawing my lazy boy, patrolling the counter tops in the kitchen, spraying on my wifes shoes, walking on my cars, killing birds etc. How did you find a pic of one sitting still? | |
