My brother picked up an 05 GTO a month ago and has been itching to run it against my car. He swore that there was no way my car could stay with his off the line or from any roll. I have driven it several times and didnt agree.

I finally figured out what was wrong with my car a couple of weeks ago and it is now running better, bad valve springs aside. Only took ten months.

We took both cars to my employers shop in Maltby and spent the day wrenching on them. On the way there and back we ran a couple of times from a stop and from a roll. He smoked me off the line becuase of traction problems with my car ( POSI is going out and the goodyear GSC's suck) but from a 20 - 30 roll my car pulled, slightly, from a 40 mph roll, pulled alittle more. He started gaining ground around 70. I am sure the GTO pulls harder from 75 on up, but was pleasently suprised with my car at the lower speeds. My brothers car has an auto transmission so shifting wasnt an issue.

On a side note, I cant believe how much easier it is to work on your car while it is on a lift. Every time I have worked on my car over the last 18 years it has been in my garage, and I have been on back until today.

If you have the means, get a lift!

That would work also, but I would be nervous working under it.
