Same same.
There are couple changes in the starters over the years, but if you were to swp out a 305 for a 350, you could keep the same starter.

my thought is that if i get a starter for a 350 and put it on my 305 that it will provide better cranking and last longer. But what i don't know is if it will even work or not. are the teeth different or the mounting etc...

There probably the same exact part #
If you go to a parts store and look up a '91 camaro, (for example) all the V8's will have the same starter.

why would the one from a 350 need to be different?

If you want a BETTER starter, pony up and get an aftermarket gear-reduction starter.

350/305 AUTOMATIC starters are different than
305 MANUAL starters.

Aaron, you need to get one that fits a manual car. The nose cone is smaller to fit in the manual trans bellhousing.

is AARON the "HONDASLAYER" guy??? if so, yes the AT to MT starters are different. MT has a shorter nose cone, "HONDASLAYER" if you saved your old starter from your old trans, it should work just fine.

Derek, we've talked about the starter issue via Text, you should know. same part ## is fine, but the AT and MT starters will be diff even if both call for a 153 tooth Flywheel.

Yes yes that part is true, but theres NO difference between the 2 engines... a 305 is just a easy/hard to turn over as a 350.

My original starter for the 305/autotragic was the smaller one.
