Your gaskets lasted longer than mine did. Mine looked exactly the same as yours do. I now have percy's dead soft aluminum reusable gaskets and couldn't be happier with them. _________________ Member of the "Elite T56 Club" , big brake club, and "burgundy" (not red or maroon) car owner.

| I couldn't find the Percy gaskets today out here in Gresham, but I did get the Mr Gasket brand reusable aluminum gaskets. We will see how they do. I need to get a few heat cycles through and make sure the header bolts are nice and tight. |

Funny, I just took my heads completely off the truck.. Left the felpro header gaskets stuck to them. Machined the rocker stud bosses, then reinstalled everything.. Using the same header gaskets! |

i've been there too, when the ticking starts it can get old fast. seems like its almost inevitable to burn out gaskets on some headers. at least that's what i thought until i found a solution that worked for me, if you're interested check these graphite gaskets out:
http://www.remflex.com/
i've been really impressed with the ones i've used, no retorqueing needed and no leaks so far (have had them in for about 1.5 years), worth every penny! |

I use the very same. I've been quite impressed with them. Quite fragile out of the package though.
The V6 has a recurring leak though where the driver side manifold connects to the Y-pipe. _________________ 92 Camaro

| I would just use the cheap header gasket. In my experience doesn't make a difference. Once the gasket leaks its junk. Tighten the new gasket when its cold. Then when the engines still hot retighten the header bolts again. Never had a problem with them leaking after this process. |

You my friend haven't used a quality gasket with your "process." Using a paper gasket will always end in tragety. I've had the same header gaskets for years, and they've been off twice. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

I hate Mr. Gasket products so much. I have never seen anything they make that wasn't crap, nor have I had any of their gaskets of any type last more than a few thousand miles.
I will say +3 on the Remflex's though. I put one on the passenger side of the IROC (warped header flange on that side, was blowing out double-stacked Mr. Gasket's every 500 miles) and it's lasted about 2K now with no retorque, per their instructions.*crosses fingers* |

I second that, Working at the parts counter, I flat out refuse to sell Mr. Gasket electric fuel pumps because im tired of filling out paper work for returns. I havent sold one without seeing it come back, within a couple of weeks at that.
Im gonna try the Remflexs when my "hooker" gaskets are done, I have heard alot of good about them. |

is that because you still have not replaced the manifold that i broke the flange bolt off of? or is this an unrelated leak? _________________ 86' firebird (Junked in 2015). 88' GTA (sold in 2020).

If you would remember correctly, I sourced a replacement manifold at the junkyard and replaced the one with the broken bolt |
