Like Rod said, WC T5's have a SLIGHTLY stronger case. The counter shaft has tappered bearings with a shimmed pre-load while the non world class ones use barrel style bearings. WC T5 has 1st and IIRC2nd gear have 3 piece synchros instead of the single brass.
I'd pick up whatever you can find.
Good luck finding the shifter plate for the bird. They are RARE in good shape. I scored a Camaro one at the JY. First one I'd ever seen that wasn't broken. Now I have two lol

I have a NWC T5 I pulled out of my car when I went with the T56. It's in great shape, comes with a hurst billet plus shifter, flywheel (needs to be surfaced) new in the box stock style clutch, bellhousing, all hydraulics, and a set of third gen pedals. Also new pressure plate bolts, but needs new flyweel bolts. Flywheel bolts been taken off and on too many times and I tossed them. They are about $10 for new ones.

i just picked up my t5 last sunday from an lkq for 150 bucks with a 30 money back garontee(sorry i don't know how to spell that one). i have an 83z28 and i pulled a t5 w/c from an 88 firebird. try looking around at lkq(you pull it).

i just put it in today and boy oh boy it's freakin strong 100 times stronger than my 83 t5. it had to have been rebuilt just before it landed at lkq. there's not even any road grime on it. i got really lucky.

I GOT MINE IN TIGARD BUT IT WAS THERE ONLY ONE. YOU'VE JUST GOT TO LOOK AROUND AND CALL THEM ALL. I LIVE IN VANCOUVER WA AND HAD TO DRIVE 40 MIN TO PULL MINE, YOU MIGHT HAVE TO DO THE SAME. IF THE TRANNY IS GOOD BE PREPARED TO DRIVE A LONG WAY TO GET IT. T5'S SEEM TO BE HARD TO FIND.

I got everything to swap it except the trans right now, I live about 20 minutes from the tigard LKQ If I knew it was there I woulda jumped on it soooooo fast, I know they seem to be pretty hard to find. |

try checking craigslist in seattle and salem. like i said if it's a good tranny it's really worth the traveling
