I may be inheriting a small sum of money of an unliked grandpa. (It's not something that I am holding my breath for.) So the question is, if I had say 10,000 to spend on my 89 Camaro RS w/ Auto (305 TBI) What would you recommend for me? And what would you get for your own car?

I would seriously consider looking at stocks since most companies are at rock bottom right now. Maybe a house as well since there giving them away right now. But if I was gonna spend it on my car a BBC, a 4 speed, and a 9 inch. Oh and maybe some nitrous

Car Specific... I'd buy a setup Moser F-body 9". Tremec TKO 600 w/ Kevlar Synchro upgrade. That's almost 5k right there! $300 for a decent driveline. And spend the rest on a good motor.

With the credit markets at a near freeze right now in our "recession", it'd be tough for him to get a loan with a reasonable intrest rate, unless he's got flawless credit, although on the flip-side, I'm sure some of these banks want to unload all these houses they've had to forclose on.

While a house is a practical decision over modifying the car, you might do well just to hang onto as much of the money as you can.

If you were to modify the car, I'd say a LS1 or LS based 5.3 and T-56/4L80E swap, and 9" rear.

10k? C6 IRS/Transaxle and a rollcage. Anything left over would go to turbo the 5.3.

I didnt say BUY a house, I said save for a house. 10k wouldnt get you into a house right now. I'll NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, EVER buy another damn ring... well, maybe one female, but shes WAY outta my league.

But ok, dump into a car.. Id pay to have my quarter put on. Then repainted to 09 CTS red. Then find some damn company to figure out why this tune in my car wont work when its cold out.

I think that would blow about 10k paying someone to do it.

HHhmmmm...... 10?

Well, I'm buried in my 3rd gen. New engine (383), exhaust, interior, front end. No way I'd get more than 3 for it.

If I had it all to do over again, I'd go with a 4th gen... but I've had this one for 7 or 8 years.

If you've GOT to have a car... I'd sell the 3rd gen, spent $3500 or so on a 4th gen, and save the rest for a down payment on a house.

But that's just me, and I'm older'n dirt. Good luck with whatever choice you make.

I'm with stupid

where's the fun in a house?! can a house go 0 to 60 in under 4 seconds? Well my car definately can't either, but after spending 10K on it it sure would!

I'd say tubular a-arms, sfc's, whole new rearend + suspension, bigger brakes, Small Block 427 "mighty mouse", t56, 4:11's

I would take the 383 out and change pistons and give it a once over for low compression then I would get an intercooled procharger setup that should be good for almost that right there. Maybe whats left over use for tires and front rims
