well on my 87 iroc 5.7 im having trouble with scanning live data on any scan tool.
i can read out live data untill the computer switches to closed loop.
so when its cold i can read codes/live data as soon as it switches to closed loop nothing it reads NO DATA can cannot connect to the ecm for codes or anything.
i can still pull codes by jumpering a-b on aldl
and i dont have any current codes.
any input on this issure im 90% sure the only thing that could possibly cause this is the ECM itself. thanks! |

What tool are you using to scan it. On the TPI cars, you have to use a 10k ohm resister on a couple of ports to start the datastream flow.

i typically use a otc genisis and it has a black and a gray aldl connector/adapter and it says to use the grey one for tpi cars so im assuming it has the grey adapter.
also when i first got the car in the summer it didnt have that problem it would read all the time because i did some data logging with it on the same scan tool at work.
thanks |

| Gotta jump the A-B terminal with a 10k resistor. Then pick up data. Then remove the resistor. |

so i have to actually jump a-d with a 10k resistor with having the scan tool plugged in to read live data?
like i said it never needed that to read live data when i first got it one day it just stoped working.
but i will try that |

Well I'm remembering now my Auto-Xray you didn't have to jump the terminals. But the tool was hit and miss.
I think I have a spare 165 ECM you can try. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |
