Don't mind the rain and chipped paint.
I removed the entire plastic piece, and the foglights, then pulled out the air-funneling plastic pieces, the plastic around the radiator where the AC used to be,, and the metal braces behind the lights that really seem to serve no purpose at all. I then bolted the front half of the air dam back up (sans useless metal braces), and used tin snips to cut out what remained of the plastic in the holes.
A quick trip to Lowes netted me some metal screen that you're supposed to use to cover your chimney or something, but it didn't look cheesy like chicken wire. I shot it with primer, and with a little cutting and bending, and a few well-hidden zipties it was done. I filled the holes from the license plate bracket (which didn't come out very well) and then shot the entire piece flat black, except for the 'Camaro' part. Not bad for a couple bucks and an hours work.
If anyone wants the metal brace things, or the foglights (one has a chipped lens), they're yours for a beer:

| Maybe it's just me, but IROC's need the driving lights. Deleting them makes them look like an RS. |

| Looks good. Since nobody spoke up, I'll take the lights off of your hands. I have on broken on my Red car, just not sure which one. |

Not until you mentioned it just now. I had thought about doing a full grill like that on it, but it's kinda ricer, kinda expensive, and kinda more work than I wanted to put into it for scant performance gain.
He did a good job on it though, and his emblem idea is interesting, but it ruins the entire point of deleting the foglights, since airflow is still restricted. |

| Sorry to say, but you're not going to gain any performance by deleting the fog lights. |

| I figured anything I gained would have been from pulling all the air box junk out, not the lights themselves. It does run about 10* cooler at high speed though. |

Do you not have an air dam?
And if you think about it.... Firebirds have no airflow or performance then |

I have the same wire mesh in my grill.
I would have kept the plastic in around the radiator. Helps keep cold air out front, and hot air in the bay rather then up into the snorkle. |

No, the air dam is still all there. However without the foglights and the air funnel things in there I noticed two things:
1) The air coming through the foglights holes has a straight shot through the lower half of the rad, and is no longer blocked by the lights or the braces.
2) Air pushed up by the air dam now has a straight shot upwards towards the dual filters and upper hafl of the radiator, instead of being blocked by the funnels and air box silencer.
Like you said, I doubt there's a real performance gain to be had, but it didn't hurt my cooling any. |
