So far, I have the following:

Edelbrock Carb

Fuel Feel Line

In-Line Fuel Filter

Fuel Pressure Guage (thought it might be cool)

What else should I get?

a tuning kit and a A/F meter! that would help you a ton with MPG and hidden HP!

My experience with the edels is you'll definatly need the tuning kit. My edelbrock was so lean out of the box, that it had a surge to it at part throttle. Changed the metering rods 1.5 steps richer and solved that problem.

Do you have a stock pump? If it's stepped up beyond stock, a regulator would be a good idea.

You'll also need to check the linkage to make sure it matches what you have, as well as checking if the linkage and choke clear the intake.

The kit has a few jets, metering rods, and springs. And a handy little book to make sense of which way you're adjusting things. That way if you make changes to your combo you can dial it in again too. If I remember right I also had to change the springs to get the enrichment curve to come in earlier.

so basically, the car will run like crap unless i use this kit? Right now, my q-jet runs too rich and it fails emissions. maybe at least I can pass emissions with it running lean?

I have no idea how your car will run. Mine ran like crap, others have no problems. Too many different combos.

i was watching the dvd that came with the carb...looks like they even say it's a hit and miss, so I will work with what I got. btw, i will start out with the stock pump and see how it does, then eventually install the peformer pump (#1721) that I have with braided lines, but one thing at a time Smile

That is where the wide band comes into play for are relatively small amount you can pick on of these up and get your car fairly close to a solid tune just by adjusting idle mixtures and doing some cruising and jetting after each cruise. On all of my Dyno tunes the cars all respond differently one thing is always the best and that is 12.9 A/F for max torque and 13.1 A/F for peak HP (this is all for N/A engines) other then that I try to get cruise to be between 14-15 sometimes on a mild engine you can run even leaner to gain yourself millage. And the Idle will depend entirely upon what cam you have.... If it is pretty much stock you can get away with a pretty lean idle. This should help you to pass emissions as good is not better then factory with the proper tune!

i'm running the stock cam, so I should be ok there. do you have a part number i can look up for the air/fuel gauge? I am looking for passing emissions so running a little lean is ok for now.

It depends on if you want something that you can tune multiple vehicles (preferred) or if your looking to just install a stationary gauge in the car. You have to be careful when looking at those gauges cause the wideband gauges sometimes are not very accurate for a true wideband gauge you will see a pretty good price deference.

i figure the ones with the digital readouts for 300+ bucks would be the way to go, if i had that kind of cash for a gauge Laughing but i don't see wasting money on something cheap that won't work either Sad

well, it took some ingenuity but john (rsfreak) and I got the carb installed and operational...definately can tell the difference in the throttle response! Of course this included a trip to schucks and to Harbor Freight for parts and there are a couple of things that need to be done to make it look better. the electric choke worked perfectly and there are no other electronics on it...time to pull out the check engine bulb Very Happy
