It depends on the sound you want. I have flowmaster, and if I was to do it again, I would probably go with magnaflow. But, everyone has their own opinions.

I happen to like the way your car sounds, John.

However, Hooker Aerochambers are another good pick.

I like the way my car sounds at or below 3000rpm. I don't like the way flow masters sound at higher RPMs.

I'm not going to spend the money to change it though, until I get something that needs REAL exhaust, then I'll work on engineering something that will work for me, and then try to bribe Paul with Beer to help me make it work.

i bought a Dynomax catback...
over stock, i was really happy with it, but i couldnt get the muffler to fit right... because one of the bends wasnt right...

so i had a friend weld a flowmaster 80 to it... looks great, much more muscle-ie sound, as the dynomax was pretty raspy.
if your gonna by a catback, don't get dynomax, very poor quality.

If you are solely interested in making a lot of noise and annoying everyone, the Flowmaster will do it for you. If your interested in a muffler that actually flows well, and doesn't give you a headache while driving around, look elsewhere.

I was so impressed with Ian's sound that I bought a Magnaflow catback... that I never did install. Rolling Eyes

No it's going on my car eventually. If I ever get around to doing it I'd sell you the old catback for a few bucks. It's 3" in decent shape with a umm... "box". Very Happy

No, I think you misunderstand what I mean by "box". Some previous owner was a moron who owned a wire-feed and thought he had some good ideas about exhaust work. Rolling Eyes

Magnaflow and the Hooker Aerochamber will flow identical. The Hooker will be a touch louder and have a more agressive deep sound. the Magnaflow will be quiet.

I went with what Kitsap Muffler installed for me. I think Pro Flo is the brand. Sounds OK to me, loud when I get on it, a little raspy when I let of and a good tone when cruising.

Pro Flo was the main one to take over flowmaster copies once their patent expired.

I say magnaflow for quality. You'll get over the "super loud hear me coming pull me over please" phase in time.... Very Happy

I had a flowmaster on the LT1 and a Magnaflow on teh V6. Overall I'm not impressed with the sound of the magnaflow. It sounds raspy and VERY similar to a cherry bomb. The V6 has 2.5" pipe, maybe thats the problem. Rolling Eyes

A v6, that might be your issue.
