So I made the necessary young male mods to my Jeep, thought I would share my "purchases"

The Stock stereo didn't even have a tape deck so I really had to ditch that thing. In place is a Clarion Pro Audio Touch Screen System.

The Doors have Sony Xplod 3 ways with 3 way truck box style speakers resting on the rear bench, with cord enough for relocation to the back for back seat "use" Twisted Evil

The Bump is provided by an MTX Thunder Amp powering two 10" Orion Subs. The box is tied down with the stock cargo brackets so I can take it out for long trips that require cargo space. This system hits HARD. I love it, but I have it set on low because I'm not into rattling around mine and other people's intestines.

Total Cost for Sound System? 35 dollars for Walmart Stereo install kit and amp wiring kit. The rest was sourced from cars that come into the lot. I love ricers....

And Finally my favorite mod, new headlights! The old ones were yellowy, dull and super fugly. These are currently housing H4 Silverstars until I convert to HID. What a difference though over stock sealed beams.

Thank you all for checking out my self gratifying thread. Very Happy

I like the way those headlights look with that grill. What brand did you go with? The housings I have in my camaro have terrible spread.

Thank you. They are Ebay specials, most likely Chinese product. I look for specific ones on ebay, remove the reflector and then install quality bulbs. My lighting is a perfect horizontal white beam, but I have had issues with fake projector and other styles before.

I have 4-6 Dual Headlight h4 conversion housings new in their box at the car lot if anyone wants to purchase em.

Really? Did that help? I have Nokia 6500k bulbs and they aren't bright at all. Probably woulnd't be hard to rip them out, putting them back in would suck though.

Its the ebay bulb aka the Nokya that are messing you up. Go down to Napa or Schucks and get a silverstar or wagner ultra vision H4 bulb. They cost around 12.00 a piece and will change your world.

All the ebay bulbs have a high color output, but piss poor lumens (light) output. AKA, they look cool but you can't see anything.

Ya, I think thats what I have. I need to get new bulbs anyway, I'll try out the SilverStars and see what it does. If no improvement I'll try the deflector removal. Thanks! I've never been happy with the headlights but I've always had the stupid Nokya's in there. They are so blue I'm suprised I haven't been pulled over yet.

Your truck looks good though man. Very clean. Have you tried pointing your speaker boxes ports rear instead of up? It'll change the sound. Might be better.

It should make a big difference, let me know.

I haven't tried moving the ports only because the amp and fuse block are all connected to the box. Basically its a one piece rear system that would be exposed if I had it facing any other way.

Thank you for the compliments! Its different being in an SUV, but it is fun off road and this state has no end of trails and places to explore. I'm easing into a 4x4 life style Cool

However, it doesn't mean I don't have fun when in town. There is a huge PA speaker under the hood for social commentary

I need to get on and buy the E-Code H4 housing for mine, they are not that expensive, and supposed to put out a very nice pattern. And, they aren't the cheapo chinessium

Nah, that was an H9 bulb. But these Osram h4s have close to the same light output. Which is staggering considering the Sylvania Silverstars put out 1700/1075 lumens in h4 form which is only a couple hundred over a standard halogen h4 @ ~1600/1000. Silverstars main benefit is the white light they put out.

Thank you Ian! I will check out said bulbs, but I think I'm just going to go HID. I do get a great beam right now, which is a 300% improvement over stock, even with such a low lumen increase you're right, its the increased purity of the white color.

lol. Thanks Jon, us Jeep guys have to stick together, I think the others are getting envious of our 4x4 capabilities. Wink

Speaking of tie downs, Tims iroc's exhaust was held up/together by a tow strap when we rescued it from its previous owner. You had to slam the door just right to keep the tension....that was the definition of ghetto.

Please don't just slap a h4 based D2S/D2R bulb in those housings. I ran that for awhile and the color was absolutely badass but the light output wasn't much better than my osram bulbs and the beam pattern blew (compared to a real HID projector). Do it right and retro a proper projector into the backside of those housings. Smile I'm in the process of doing it right now. Mainly my laziness is slowing me. I have a projector mounted into my old 4x6 h4 conversion housings and it looks pretty cool.

I get what you are saying, and I've had my own second thoughts about upgrading to HID. However, I am quite satisfied with what I have now AND if I have to sell the Jeep anytime down the road, I don't want to be pulling ballasts out, etc. My current beam pattern is absolutely perfect!
Plus, a 100 dollars for HIDs could be better spent.

The someday mods. Rolling Eyes

Got any pics of this retro fit?

Dang it Ian...you are going to beat me to another Mod....

Why is it our cars are taking like the same path for upgrades. I was planning on doing HID Projectors behind H4 housings on the camaro. I have just needed to spend money on other things instead.
