my 1982 Pontiac Trans am has a 305 4bbl, a little rust on the under side of the hood and its missing the weather striping on the out side of the hatch. it has the wrong type of distributor but runs. i bought this car for my 16th b day for $1336 at kent auction house write off of river road in Puyallup. was the car worth that much? here is some pix of it sitting in my garage, oh we drove it home too.

$1300 seems about average for a trans-am in that condition. _________________

+1. I'd say you paid just about what it was worth. It is running with that dizzy, right?
I would say swing by the bar and I'd take a look, but I think you're underage. |

| I don't know, but do the older ones like that have to have the EST wire disconnected when setting timing like the newer ones? If so, and you're not doing that, it'll go right back to where it was timing-wise. |

Check the distributor hold down/ hold down bolt. My guess is if its the stock LG4 305, you have an aluminum manifold. Could be possible the threads on the manifold aren't in good shape or the hold down isn't clamping securely.
That or EST wire as iansane said.
do you have any restart problems after you've been driving it for a bit? _________________
