what would you consider the rarest f body cars in 1982 1992 minus convertables, fire hawks , b4c cop cars ,1le cars ,beside those cars which all have low production numbers ,i think all third gen tpi 5 speed cars are going to be the rarest of all and will hold the best value am i wrong in thinking this way.

Anything from Model year 1990 is going to be more rare. GM went on strike several months during 1990, and so not a lot of cars were made.

Beyond that, The higher end options, IROC / Z-28 / TransAm / GTA in the convertable, with a 5-speed are always going to be harder to find than the t-top or hardtop cars. Althoug for some reason with the Camaro, RS badged cars in convertables, were less produced than the Z28/IROC cars. That doesn't mean they will be more valuable though.

Of non-convertables, the TransAm models had the lowest production numbers. The actualy made more GTA's than they did actual trans-ams. So, a trans-am with a 5speed is probably one of the harder to find cars. Other than model year 1990 stuff.

has anyone seen a 1988 formula convertable i think they made 22 or 26 of them very rare ive seen 3 of these on ebay.most 5speed gm cars are only 12% to 15% in all production firebirds per year so if my 1988 formula is 13,500 production how rare would a tpi 5speed car be with this option ,is there a gm breakdown on 5 spd tpi ,5 speed tbi car formulas and autos produced trying to figure the math out on this one

I'll just say I got the privledge of getting hired to go inspect, take pictures, and drive a 91 B4C that was never used as a cop car. It was sold and put in a garage instantly. It had less then 5k miles on it, this being about a year ago.

While driving it I was kinda taking it easy as it wasnt my car, and I sure couldnt afford to repair it if I damage it. The guy told me to stop. So I did.. then I was told "drive it like you are leaving some married womans house and her husband caught you screwing her". Laughing So I did. Twisted Evil

The didn't make any 5-speed L99 cars. The only thirdgens that you could buy with a 350, and a manual transmission were Firehawks, that got the ZF-6 from the C4 vettes.

No they did not. They did not make any 5speed L98 cars. They made some 1LE optioned cars for police departments with 350's, but they all got auto trannys.

That is correct. Re-read it.

Quote:
5.0 TPI engine with 5 speed or 5.7 TPI engine

It doesn't say 5.7 TPI engine with 5 speed. You could not order the 5.7L engine, with a manual. GM never made any. I am pretty sure, that to order the 5.7 TPI with the 1LE option, the only way to get it was to get a B4C car. But, they are yet different, the B4C cars, got the F41 suspension package, auto tranny's, and some got 1LE brake packages. The long of the short is, that all these years later, no one has ever shown documentation or a car, to show GM made a 5.7L with a 5speed. They simply don't excist.

I think it was, because it gave you the performance parts, with the RS badging.

AC delete doesn't make it a 1LE. The thing to look at for 1LE cars, is the front brakes. That is the tell-tale sign. Almost all the 1LE cars, were radio-delete cars aslo, but not all of them.

If GM ever made a supercharged formula, it was only as a test car, and was never sold to the public. What GM does at their proving grounds with test cars, is one thing, what people actualy have, and GM sold are another.

Ohh, and can you turn off your caps lock. It makes it hard to read what you write.

I am putting my real roswell alien up on Ebay, want to buy it? (I am kidding, mostly)

THe thing with all these supercharged, special options, one of a kind big block motors that everyone wants to beleive excist. GM isn't going to go through the hassle of building a motor for 3 cars. GM would have to test the motor, then pay to get aproved by the DOT, get it emmisions tested and cleared, get EPA sign off, etc. GM just isn't going to do that, to sell 3 rare cars.

A dealer putting them on and selling them, like Berger Chevrolet did with hopped up LS1 cars, or 1st gens, maybe. GM factory cars with a supercharger, no way. Someone may be selling something on ebay, or may say they have something. But think about it, and think about WHY would GM do that. Why would they build only 3 supercharged cars to sell, that makes no sense.

1983 Z28 L69 cars are pretty damned rare to find, in all honesty... 5 speed, posi, 3.73's, nifty fiberglass composite hood known for splitting... similar to the CFI hoods but without working vents.
