hit and run style. i was inside helping my cousin build an ikea desk.. came out to find this waiting for me. no note.

my cousins new house is in a poorer section of los angeles. van nuys (where our cars were built). he lives in a gated section, but i parked on the street outside. it would not surprise me if the culprit had no insurance, which would explain why they jut left. but they probably just took of because they are assholes. what is this country coming too when people do things like this? there is no accountability anymore. people just abuse one another because they can.

well i have decided to introduce some accountability by calling people on their stupid bullshit.

example.. Monday i was walking to my car from the airport. i walked a little over a mile in 90*+ heat. i arrive at my uncles house where i parked to see a blacked out sedan (acuraCL?) parked in front. as i approach the passenger door opens, and two Wendy's cups are tossed into the gutter, door closes. inow normally i might let this pass without a response. but i am sick and tired of crap like this... so i knock on the window.. it rolls down.. "excuse me, you guys planning on leaving that trash here?" to wit the driver responds "yeah, and if you touch my car again i'll beat your ass". he does not give me the opportunity to provoke him further as he hits the gas and leaves in a tire squealing hurry. at this point i realize these two assholes are probably all of sixteen years old... Rolling Eyes so when he said "my car" i think he meant "my dads car". i just shook my head in contempt and picked up the cups and threw them away in the trash can that was ab out 10' from where they threw them on the ground. man littering.. for real.. WTF? i mean, how little do you have to respect a place before you will throw trash on the ground? i hate LA.

another...
today i am in a bank parking lot, i stop (as to not hit the car in front of me) and the driver behind me HONKS HIS HORN. normally i just let crap like this go, but it just hit me a little harder today for some reason, could be that i am still stewing about the damage to my car. so i throw the ebrake on, get out and walk to his open passenger window (slowly, and in a non threatening posture), and say "excuse me, how are you even going to honk at a guy for stopping for traffic in a parking lot. he stammers out "well.. you were stopping quickly..." he was just so shocked someone had called him on his BS... i reply "well, i apologize for stopping quickly" (response smothered in sarcasm). and i walk back to my car satisfied... oh so satisfied.

i am gonna get stabbed one of these days.... Sad

That definately sucks about the car tony.

I gotta admit before I opened the post, I thought it was gonna be some severe damage.

People can be A-holes. Unfortunately there's a lot more of that "L.A. mentality" moving up north here too.

totaled in the monetary sense only. i had a much more minor dent on the other side i had inspected by a body shop. (also a hit and run, also while parked) they said $600 to fix it, and it only went through the middle body line, this one gos through the middle line, the fender lip and the gas door. i figure 1000+ in repairs. kbb list a 1988 (only goes back that far) 2.8 firebird at $895 in fair condition. so monetarily it's totaled. Laughing

I'm not too worried about it, i was pissed at first, but i was driving at about 80 on the freeway on the way home and found myself just smiling from the "Driving Excitement". i love this car. dents and all.

thanks for the kind words guys. the sympathy helps. I'll quit being a whiny wimp now. Smile

*edit
it looks WAY more minor in the pictures then it actualy is, white hides ALOT. that is why white is so cool. i have had that dent on the other side that you can't even see in photos for over a year, and people only notice it when i point it out.

That sucks man. I wish people would own up to the damage they do to others. How can people live with themselves? I swear that the movie Idiocracy will be life in no more than 20 years.

Firefox does have a spell checker. I use it all the time. Razz I can't remember offhand where/how to enable it as I'm at work now and using IE.
