STOKED!

Ordered a set of front 98+ dual piston calipers AND the brackets for $65 each from Best Auto Parts in Lynwood! Now all I have to do is find some flat stock so my laser cutter friend can make adapter brackets, order the rotors, and turn down my extra set of hat/rotors! Rock on!

12x1.25 front brakes here i go!

, they are going with big calipers, on the camaro, hopefully it will all squize under my C5 wheels.

Pictures will get posted when I get it all sorted out.

I couldn't let Ian have all the fun of completely going overboard, and over-braking his car.

Yar! I got the brakes yesterday. Friggen huge calipers! I don't know how I would react if they were any bigger. I certaintly stoked to get them on now! I'm going to set them up on my extra spindles so I have no down time. Just keep your fingers crossed that the fit in my GTA wheels.

Dew, just remember I've got a set of 18" wagons hanging around here that I'd let you rock for awhile. Only two need tires. Very Happy

Can't be showing me pictures like that at work! Those are friggen HUGE! I think mine are around 7" long, 12 is redonkulous.

Just remember folks. Take off power, and stopping power is only as good as the contact between the road and rubber.

Mine already slides. I think more stopping power would only make it slide more.

You are all stock though except for the rears right?

I'm hoping that by upgrading my fronts that I will decrease the pressure necessary to stop my beast. Right now I can mash the pedal down and the fronts will not lock. They will only lock if I jab them. I'm also running ceramic pads in the fronts and organics in the rear.

Yea, I'm stock J65, with midgrade pads.

Mine will lock up no mater what I do with the peddle except easeeeeeee onto it. If I do any sudden movement with that peddle, I'm sliding.

but this is all because I got cheap ass tires. Sad

I got my brackets made! I'll get to see if they fit when I get home. So stoked! Oh, and I measured the calipers, they are 8" long and 6" wide. Not C6 sized, but still big.

I felt mine getting really squishy doing 60-0 tests with my gtec after a couple of rounds. The best I could do was 134' on some haggard pavement. After the swap I'll let you know.

Confused

Wtf. Do I need 1LE spindles? The bracket I got has the holes way closer together than what I needed. I have to redrill the holes but even if if I do they don't fit right. Before I go drilling holes can tony of dew tell me if i need a different spindle?

I figured it out. I didn't realize that much material had to come off the spindle to make this work.

post 87 shows a pic of what the spindle needs to look like before the bracket will fit. Has anyone gone this far yet?

I got the brackets on this weekend! I might have to hog out the holes a little but the brackets look good and the calipers are huge (to me at least). Next step is to drill and tap the caliper holes and then grind everything nice and smooth. I'm also going to grind all the casting marks off.

Ian brought over the C5 stuff that I bougt from him yesterday. All I need to get it going now is the caliper brakets for the spindles, modify the extra spindles I have, turn down some old rotors into hubs, and get longer wheel studs. Like you said, they are big!! Now searching for rears to upgrade with, PBR most likely.

C5 fronts? I thought EdMiller said those rotors are too big? Or do they just not fit behind the GTA crosslaces?

I think I'm fine with the diameter at 17" and I have alot of room with backspacing.

Aren't GTA Crosslaces 16" wheels?

Yes, they are 16". The C5 caliper has some extra ribbing on it that hits the inside of the wheel. Since you have 17's I don't think its a problem. What size are the rotors on the C5? mine will be 12x1.25 with LS1 calipers. If I can get my rotor/hubs cut down this week I'll let you know how mine fit.
