My red tpi car started knocking.
Pulled a valvecover and the oil is a beautiful metalic color now.
Not sure where to go now, might be a bunch of IROC parts available soon. |

Bummer buddy, sorry to hear that. Maybe put the 350 in there and then put more mojo in blue car? You going to trash the whole car for an engine?

No 350 for this car, I'll rebuild the 305 first. I don't want another go fast project. I wanted this car to be a completely original IROC.
I bought this car with the intention of parting it out. When I went and looked at the car the first time it was horrible looking. Paint was trashed, passenger side window busted, most of the interior was piled up in the back seat, and it didn't run. Figured I could double my money by parting it.
Got it home, dinked with it, and got it running. So I put a window in and re installed the interior, which to my surprise was in really good shape. All original seats in perfect shape. Then after running into the second owner of the car I found out that the odometer was correct at 73,000. Then found blown head gasket or cracked head and changed them for another set of 416's I had. Drove it a few hundred miles and now this.
I dunno, my original plan was to try and paint it myself this summer and have a sweet, original, low miles car with AC and cruise. Plus it would get decent miliage and be quiet, you know, all that cool crap that my blue one doesn't do. And a few years from now it might be worth something to have. |

| Don't you have a working 305 allready? Just dump it in there and screw the tpi down on it. |

Sorry to hear bout the mill but Im glad your hanging onto the 305. "Keep it original" .....that is music to my ears
I talked to an editor from Hemmings Muscle Machines again, he tells me there looks to be an upswing in third gens. "A third-gen resurgence is coming!". _________________

Won't take 30 years. You'll see original cars increase in the next 10 years.
Even if it takes 30 years, I should still be around. |

we're just gonna sit on it for a while, get all the pieces together this summer (crosses fingers)
and get it rebuilt and running like a top,
(this fall if we have time, probably next winter)
It will live again, all original
Then I am going to get a special plate for it.....

Or else you're spending your retirement on it.
