My son and I went to Tacoma to drive a certain collector edition vert.

LS1 was nice, top down was cool too, but at 53k miles is it too worn out? lol

Im looking at a G8 or a Solstice GXP also, but I want to remain loyal to the bird.

If you just found a stack of bills that totaled 30k how would you spend it?

I would pay all my bills off then finish building my cars. Then I would get a 2002 firehawk for a daily driver. Very Happy But thats just me.

Now thats what I'm talking about a black firehawk. The only thing I would do to that car is tint it and put a set of my vette wheels on there. Very Happy

I like those birds, I would think for $30k you could also get into a pretty descent corvette. The G8's are cool, but they seem low on power for what they are, why they don't have a 405hp LS2 is beyond me, I am not sure why it is detuned for the US market.

I think I would keep my eye out, CTS-V seem to be pretty common in the mid 30 range, in another 6 months, or if you find a good deal, you could probably step into one of them for $30k.

for 52k miles, 30 grand is asking far too much...

I would think at the most, 22k and thats being fair because it's reasonably low miles and it's a vert...

but thats me

Hiatt Pontiac? If so, I probably blew past you a couple times today. Laughing

Anyway, looks nice, but the color is bad (IMO) and like Aaron said, the price is way to high.

I stopped and looked at that. Very nice. Isn't it an auto though?

There's a nice red '02 zo6 at my work with only 20k on the clock. Very Happy

Hiatt Pontiac is the dealership my bird originally came from.

I decided I dont want to spend the entire stack on a car. The wife likes the Solstice, but I may not fit in one, I should have drove one while I was there.

The bird is a 6 sp and its been on the lot for bout 4 months. They are asking 20, there is one in Redmon for 25, private seller but and 10k less miles. Around 540 6 sp verts were made so I can get used to the color. Razz

All the Anni birds were white and blue, they were really lit at PMD when they hatched this one.

Hiatt prolly paid the owner 17 to 18 k for it, the retail (dealer price) is $23,840.

Here is the Add, its on craigs for 20 k now too

aaron, my T/A was parked in the back, do you work there?

edit: I noticed the clutch pedal had no play at all in it, is this typical of hydraulic types?

Bad news, the CETA sold. Congrats to the new owner.

Good news, got an LS4 instead.

Tap shifter is fun. Last pontiac V8 (I dont count Holden), thought I would get the last of this breed instead.

Oh and Hiatt, depending upon what car that was traded in on, probably paid a lot less than 15k. If the dealer was lucky, the owner traded it in on a diesel pickup truck well into the 35,000 dollar range. With nearly a 10k dollar mark up on those trucks, they could be invested in the bird somewhere between 5-7 grand, but of course, show they paid 17,000 to the owner on paper.

LS1s are extremely soft at the auctions, both in My state and Oregon. People like you are hard to come by, who have the cash flow to afford higher end prices or the payments/insurance on v8 cars, AND don't want to spend that money on something fuel efficient and Japanese.

That may be true on the CETA trade, I see now they dont use KBB but real time auction prices.

28 MPG ist too bad, and to be honest imports are great but I will remain loyal to national brands. I used to live in Fremont CA as a kid and my dad took delivery of a brand new 67 Tempest Custom wagon for a company family car, made right there in town at the plant. My friends dad worked there and I recall a nice 64 Chevelle SS in his garage.

Things about the GXP that sold me:
Remote start, with the included auto dual zone climate control will start the car from over 500 feet away and heat or cool the cabin depending on weather.

Monsoon 9-speaker system with amplifier, in dash 6 CD player, Onstar and XM

Heads up Display, sunroof

The motor

Lightweight, three-piece friction-welded composite intake manifold
Aluminum high-flow cylinder heads similar to 6.0L V-8 (LS2)
Aluminum engine block with cross-bolted main bearing caps
Full-floating pistons
Electronic throttle control integrated with a new engine controller
10.0:1 compression ratio for fuel-efficient performance
Unique camshaft designed for DOD technology
GM Oil Life System to minimize required oil changes

Brakes:

PBR Performance Brake Package, 4-wheel disc with Electronic Brake Force Distribution
GXP's performance brake package is a total control system designed to help drivers confidently use this vehicle's considerable V-8 power. At its foundation are cross-drilled 12.7" front and 12.0" rear rotors for superior heat dissipation. The red calipers are from brake specialist PBR, competition-tested to reduce flex for a smooth, progressive pedal feel, even in hard use.

StabiliTrak Sport Stability Control System

Monitoring the chassis is a task that falls to the StabiliTrak stability control system. One of the most advanced in the world, it compares steering inputs to vehicle response and selectively activates critical control inputs to help you stay on track. It is the type of control that not only defines GXP, but redefines the entire concept of the FWD sport sedan.

Four-Wheel Independent Suspension
Re-Tuned four-wheel independent suspension has new spring rates, larger anti-roll bars and premium monotube Bilstein gas shocks. They help GXP to circulate the skid pad at .85g, and sits 9mm lower that std GP's 9mm isnt much I know lol but its lowered heheh

It has a built in G meter I will have to try it one day lol

Tapshift, holds the gear to redline.

Magnasteer II
Matches steering assist to your speed, while a four-channel ABS system provides additional control on uneven surfaces and in unpleasant weather.

Heated seats, wife loves em. No spare tire but you get a cool inflator kit lol.

Anyway long post but I need to legitimze this purchase somehow!

I am a muscle car domestic v8 lover since birth, and I totally see why you bought the car. Its not like you are 23 and taking out loans for the rest of your life, you are the informed buyer that I wish I could get more at the car lot : )

Drive what you love, love what you drive. The American car companies are packing loads more features into their line up to help sell and that should be taken advantage of. You got a lot of motor, have fun!

G meter? AHAH. That would be the first they I played with Very Happy
