I have just about every mod to my engine, tranny, and suspension.

I can hardly get any traction in first gear. I can only give it 1/2 throttle before my tires break loose. I have sphoon weld in sub frame connectors, lca's, panhard rod and lca relocation brackets and the stock 3;23 posi rear end, yes, I have the differential cover that supports the end caps. I though putting Eagle G3 F1 tires in the rear would greatly solve my traction issues...wrong! I was going to use the Nitto 555r's, but I was told the Eagles were about the same grip. I know the Nitto's tread compound are 140 compared to the Eagle F1's are about 280. One of the con's about the nitto's is the soft compound dries out and the nitto tires start to dry out and get hard after a year and a half. So, my delema is do I trade up my new Eagle F1's to a sticky tire or an adjustible torque arm? Driving my Z out of the hole is really an art. Maybe I just need practice Laughing My luck I would get a ticket Sad

Different tires or adjustible Torque arm?

Um... it's just kind of how it is when you get power man.

Unless you run a slick type tire, you learn to drive it that way.

I'd go with the torque arm personally. But that's just cause I wont run slicks on the street. They wear faster and give a squishier ride.

Tires are where it is at, but with a supercharged motor making the kind of power yours is likely making, it is never going to get out of the hole great. Shoot, my 240rwhp 305, I have to pedal out of the hole. The torque arm might help a hair, but not enough that you are going to be able to jam the gas and go, the only way to do that, is to run race tires, and heat them up first.

Well, I thought I had purchased the best street tire on the market. I asked many people on TGO and many said the Eagle G3 F1's compared to the Nitto 555r's. As for the life of the tires, 10K miles would be fine with me. I only put 600 miles on my Z last year! I actually considered trading in my Z on a GMC syclone. I test drove the syclone and I was not that impressed. I'm sure I would have to do a lot of mods to the sy to get it to run as fast as my Z. I do plan on selling it only becasue I"m planning on getting a full sized F250/350 to pull a horse trailer in the near future:(

If you only want 10k miles... get some Micket Thompson Street Slicks/Drag Radials.

Well, I have a few concerns about the drag radials. I want at least 12K miles out of the tires. the main concern about the drag radials is that I was told they all pretty much only last one year as they dry out and become very hard. My Z is a weekend driver and/or sunny days.

I am really hoping to make it to the dyno in January.

I've had my mickey thompsons for something like 3 years now. Many many passes at the drag strip (mostly by other people LOL) and few street miles.

Still super sticky and still have the same air pressure. They sit all winter in a shed too.

Same thing here I think Im going on 3 or 4 years now and they have acually hooked great (motor passes at least) They are a great tre. I have run with the mt et streets (non radials) and they make the car wander a bit down the track. Of course anytime you put a tire that allows it to hook your probably going to be investing in a better diff. Happens to everyone who owns one of these cars. lol mine came apart in chuncks after one launch and that was with better axles solid pinion spacer richmond gears and the dif cover with support. There just to small of a diff to handle any sort of real power imo.

Maybe I shoud keep my Eagles, then start trying to figure out what to do with the ford 9 inch in my back yard. I either have to purchase a housing that will hold the 9 inch pumpkin or somehow fabricate the ford 9inch to fit in my Z. Then get some slicks

So how hard is putting a 12 bolt or nine inch in? I mean, what kind of fab work is required?

You have to cut it to the proper width, get the correct axles, weld on spring pockets, and LCA brackets. That is the easier parts, the hardest part is getting a torque arm mount built on to it, that would be a mess to fabricate. If you have the money, Moser and Currie both make bold-in ready housings, but they cost $$$$.

For traction, which tire will work best for an everyday tire and sticky as possible? I was consideirng Nitto 555's but I purchased a set of Eagle F1-GS on the rear instead. There were quite a few guys on TGO who said the Eagles were as good or better on the street as the Nitto's, so I went with Eagles and traction is still a major issue. Go figure!

Now, I'm wishing I would have used the Nittos'. I called discount tire and asked them about returning the Eagles for some Nitto's or possible the Mickey Thompson's sportsman sr's. They can't sell my tires as new so I will only get so much for them, but I may just trade them for a tire I need. I want the MT's, but I don't think the Mickey Thompsons sportsman sr's come in a tire that fits a 16 inch rim. I know the Nitto's will fit my rims. Then along with traction comes a busted rear end in my near future. I do have a ford 9 inch in my back yard, however, I'm selling my Z and I don't want to dump a lot of money into my Z...anymore.

Which tire? Or shoudl I just "stick Smile " with my Eagles?

I do plan on waiting till after the dyno to change my tires.

If your selling it then why dump the money into new tires to replace new tires. Prospective buyers might like the tire shredding horsepower, I know I do. Laughing

Yea, I considered that however, I am kind of "anal" when it comes to my....well, anything I care about Wink I figure spending anohter 200 bucks or so is no big deal. I would rather spend a few hundred bucks on really sticky tires now because my wife and I will be sporting two mortgages as of march and then money will be tight! I anticipate my Z not selling quickly so I want it to hook up if I'm going to be driving it Cool .
