I know quite a few fellow bro's here have very stout 3rd gen's. I finally got my Z running and man, I forgot how hard it is to run out of the hole! All I get is wheel spin! I have LCA and relocation brackets, panhard rod, sub frame connectors. I recenlty purchased a set of Goodyear Eagle's for the rear F1's which I was told are as sticky as the Nitto 555r's. I think not. Anywho, how do you guys launch? I can spin my wheels from a slow roll all the way into 2nd gear, 3rd too if I just hammered on it, but its about putting the power to the ground. I have considered an adjustible torque arm, but I really think some good Nitto's woud do the trick. I have already busted on 10 bolt. I have a ford 9inch in my back yard waiting to be fabricated. I've pretty much put every mod into my Z I can with the exception of hte panhard rod and slicks. Any thoughts? sorry for my spelling, I have tendonitis and been drinking beer..and I'm lazy right now! |

a new torque arm is going to help that greatly I would imagine, your PHR and LCA's can only do so much ... believe me I'm running a stock torque arm at the moment and don't enjoy it |

PHR won't do a thing for forward traction. The torque arm will help a little, but it may not, really, sticky tires is about the only thing that is really going to make a big diffrence. You can get the geometry good, the shocks good, but it all has to go through the tires. Moving the torque arm mount back a little, will help with some weight transfer, but there is a point, where you make enough power, that you have to have sticky rubber to get traction, and you probably are going to have to exercise control on the right foot.

I agree with John on this one. I do have an adjustable torque arm but I don't think that this would make up all the difference. I don't even have the relocation brackets on my 3.70 rear end.
I am running the Eagle F1 GS-D3 tires on the street. These have exceeded my expectations for holding the power for street tires. Don't get me wrong, if I want to light them up that is no problem but if I get the car going then hammer it they hold real nice.
At the track, I have used drag radials. Even though my suspension is not set up ideally for drag racing I managed a 1.62 60'. I don't think that is too bad for a 3800lb car.
Rubber.

| Have you tried letting the air out a little? What rear gears are you running? What size are your tires? It sounds like you're on the right track you just need a little more. |

| At the 300RWHP + stage in a cars life, traction is not going to happen without tires or being full on drag setup for suspension. |

I have done EVERYTHING to my car! Panhard rod, LCA and LCA relocation brackets, sub frame connectors.weld in type. The only suspension mod I've not yet done was the adjustible torque arm....mine's stock. I really think I should have bought Nitto drag radials instead of my Eagle GS. I hardly ever drve my Z....and I may be selling it Who knows. I really hope to be @ the dyno in January! We will see, maybe I will finally make another gathering |

If you've done everything to your car, then your obviously missing something.

Answer these. You would have a hard time getting traction with 15x7 rims and 4.11 gears with really stiff springs/shocks. _________________ E30

I have the typical Ebliach pro springs lowered 1 inch. Best street tires as Schultzy has the same tires as I. Just too much power! The car is really hard to drive out of the hole without wheel spin.
I do have a ford 9 inch that's in my back yard which I will eventually fab to fit into my Z. then I'll get some real rubber |

sounds like it's time for some wider rims. You can use a C6 Corvette as a good example of a 400hp car w/ decent traction.
I'll tell you what though, even the C6's when you get on it, will lose traction gear to gear almost to OD gears if you let it. Just getting used to the car and it's limitations should do you well. |

| Lowering springs arnt the best for off the line traction, but they are better then 20 year old stocks. |

Decent. Even with a C6's 285's, and a somewhat engineered suspension a C6 will destroy the tires even on the 3-4 shift. With the TCS off. |

| How wide are the tires you have now? I destroy my 245's in first gear and 2nd gear shifts. I'm starting to think about 10-11" rims on all fours. |

Just imagine what I was doing in a C6 Z06 on 217 at freeways speeds LOL |
