Driving across the Marcom bridge this morning, my car just shut off, it wouldn't start, acted like the fuel pump wasn't running (i was on the side of the freeway I couldn't hear it), popped the hood, check electical connections, and vacuum lines, nothing i could see. I let it sit for about 5 minutes, and then it cranked right up. It was weird.

John, almost sounds like your coil is going out? ...or perhaps with the frost this morning, when it melted the water shorted something out...just tossing out some ideas...

I sat through 35 minutes of traffic before it had a problem. I wonder if VATS or something didn't freak out. I could check the coil, I think I have a spare sitting around. I have a MSD Blaster coil in there right now.

35 mins would have been a long enough time for the coil to get warm enough, but it would seem to me that 5 mins of cool down time wouldn't be enough, would need about 30 mins for a coil to cool down to operate again...vats or a short, when you checked for loose conections perhaps you moved a wire that was shorted out???? check the connections going into the Dist. make sure they are in good...

What is funny, is those are the wires I didn't really mess with. I check the temp sensors, alternator, and Map sensor, I also checked the vacuum line to the MAP. It was wierd, I wish I had my laptop with me, so I could see what all the sensor readings were.

John, you said you messed with the alt wires...what about the 12v+ wire comming off the alt, if that lost connection the car would just die...might take a look at that one for good clean connections....

I didn't really do anyting to the 12v wire, since it is on the back, I just shook the pigtail connector, since it is right out there. With no scan tool, I really didn't know what to do other than shake it. lol
